Democratic Deliniation of Helpful Members
Perhaps the infraction cards should be supplemented with a positive poit system as well.
To augment the 'infraction cards' and their intentions, I propose that members who spend more time assisting others be credited with doing so. Anyone member who reads a post and finds it 'helpful' should be able to credit the poster. These 'points' should be displayed. There are many functions this system may serve; since they are democratic, it will be left to others to determine what those functions might be. |

It may help those who attempt to post helpful information determine whether they have been successful or not.

I've seen such features at other forums. It might be worth a try here.

There's a "hack" available for vBulletin that allows members to thank or be thanked by other members. Several forums use it.
The problem I have with adding hacks like this is the issue of keeping them updated as vBulletin itself is updated. Too bad this is not a standard feature that can be turned on or off.
