Not a bad idea. Seems to me this idea was tossed around years ago...
I'm guessing there are more 124 owners (??) so they might need one as well. |

You mean more of a support group Just kidding, my borther tried to start the 420 this morning after washing it and it just cranks. Now I have to start throwing expensive parts at it. Like baseballs, etc. It has weak spark, so rotor then cap are on order.
Thanks David

I would rather not start a seperate forum for body styles. There isn't enough model specific info.

A W-"anyting" area would be nice, BUT I found on the Vintage-Mustang.com, they started an area sections. Texas, CA etc, Very little posts to make it worth it.
Having a W123 or W126 etc etc. would be an idea but I think the Tech and diesel areas are enough. In general I find the methods and techniques of one model of Mercedes, have tremendous application on all models. So let us all learn from each other. My 2 cents. Dave

ya'll need to break it down per chassis like MBNZ does, Much easier to find what you are looking for..this generalized stuff is eh..

Be careful what you ask for because you might get it.
I agree with Dave Morrison. What would happen by breaking down all the chassis is that unless you post questions in multiple forums, you will decrease the number of people who might be able to help you. The reason I say this is that there are subsystems of each chassis group that overlap into other chassis groups. Example, the same diesel engine is used in the 126 as well as the 123 chassis. The same rear suspension is used in the 124 as well as 210 chassis, etc. If you limit yourself to seeking help in the 126 forum on say, your diesel engine, your post might miss being read by the one guy who knows the answer because he has the same engine, but in a 123 chassis. In running a discussion forum a few years ago for a software product community, I found that, just like Dave said, you get too much granularity and people don't post and answer near as much. Another point of view, I used to use a Jag forum sometimes and found it confuseing at first because they broke it down by chassis. For new people who don't know what W123 or W126 etc mean it is hard to navigate the site. MBworld does this the forum is to spread out. Mercedesshop set up seems to be the best so far.

I disagree with this too (sorry jonathan!), it's very boring to visit a forum, and have to go through 12 different subforums just to read all the posts on each different model & year.. I don't feel that 190E owners do not want to see W126 related posts, I think everyone's happy to see posts about other cars right? But a bit of separation works well.. Russell

My concerns:
The "experts" such as stevebfl, M.B.DOC, Gilly and others are not likely to tour every forum looking for questions to be answered.
I'm afraid the quality of the answers to questions will go down if we have numerous forums. It may lead to lots of cross-posting because members are afraid their questions won't be answered in one forum. Once we start the division...where does it stop? My $.02

420SEL subforum
I think it would be good to have a 126 chassis group; there must be a lot of 420 SEL owners in our total group and this car certainly has a lot of systems to look at and fix once in a while .....

Gas Discussion
Maybe there should just be a group for gas motors also. It would be no different than diesel discussion. Just Gas Discussion.
