Question 1996 S420 Service Manual

Does anyone know where I can find a SERVICE MANUAL (not user manual) for a S420 ?

No paper copies. Disc. I think available from MB through the parts dept. Someone said they sell cd manuals for the 202, so possibly you can get one for a 140, check it out. Watch out for dum parts guys who haven't a clue, hopefully someone here will know for sure. ACTUALLY check out this site as they may sell them too, I'll check for ya.
Other options, you can subscribe for various time periods (a day up to a year) at startekinfo.com, which is a Mercedes site, and you can print out the work instructions you need-OR- go on eBay and find a copy of WIS, which is also Mercedes, "workstation Information System", it's a version of what is used in the dealership shops.

Call MB in New Jersey

I just got service DVD for my '97 W210 directly from MB by calling 800-367-6372. Cost $150 plus some tax and handling. Follow phone tree to get to "documentation and brochures". Make sure your PC meets the specs of the disc. My disc covers years 1996-2003.

Simple: M.B. wants you to be eternally dependant of their overly expensive dealer network.
