Why wait for back orders? Take a look on German ebay right now

You can browse some of them for sale at www.ebay.de

go to Modellbau, then modellautos for an idea of what's up for auction over there. In Germany they are REAL serious about collecting Models of Mercedes cars. There is even a website for collecting ONLY Mercedes model autos of various sizes. There are MANY Model auto shops with Mercedes model autos in many sizes for sale inshops all over Germany, many of them sell on ebay.de in Germany and will shop worldwide.

I've kind of focused on the 1/43" Minichamps models, I like the details on them, they are very accurate. I have a nice collection of W123 Minichamps models I got over the years, some of them pretty interesting, I have a W123 wagon, a w123 autobahn Police wagon, a W123 sedan, a W123 autobahn Police wagon, a W123 CDE coupe, and a W123 cream sedan taxi. All of these are sold from time to time, look for one in OVP (original packaging), those are the best ones, they are each in a plastic case.

I've been picking them up swince around 1999, the German ebay sellers mostly speak good English, so send them a question like, "Before I bid on the model, how much to ship to USA, by airmail or land, insurance, how much in dollars, do you take paypal, Mastercard or Visa, or US dollars sent at my expense, and the Germans pack thoroughly, so nothing ever arrives damaged.

I've had 100% success buying on ebay from them the past 7 or so years, never got burned even once..

Here are a couple, auction #140067156141 1/43" W123 230 TE wagon.
another: auction #130053192800 1/43" W123 200TE wagon

There's a nice 1/18" W123 sedan from "Premium Shopping" that I've been looking at, auction #180447707278. This one looks like an already assembled Revell 240D 123, and highly detailed. I like it. These are pretty new, I haven't seen them until a couple of months ago.

I bought my 1/43 Minichamps 560SEC model from this guy, in another auction, his business is called Premium Shopping, it cost about $55 USD, around 32 euros plus shipping, I believe I paid him via Paypal (he can't take US cash dollars, though most German sellers will, some of them take pay pal or VISA or MC or US cash dollars.. His name is Markus Bonkhoff, he's in Mannheim Germany, has a wsebsite called www.modellchen.de and I'd recomend his auctions anytime, he treated me well. He didn't take US cash but would take Euros and paypal, as I recall in Sep. the price was about 8,90 Euros for land mail, and 10,90 Euros for airmail, (which took less than a week to get here), it might cost more for a bigger model.

It's fun to start a collection, my 1/43" models include a W140 600SE, a very unusual pink W210 sedan "Mary Kay Edition", a 280 SL pagoda roof, W124 coupe and wagon and cabrio,
a W116 6.9 sedan, and many others. They have Pontons, Heckflosses, W123 German chief's cars, in that scale, thaqt I have seen. Also a large collection of DTM ("Deutsche Touren Meister") race car model, W201 Evolution, many others. Plus other models like Opel, Ford, VW, Audi, Volvo and many others

Check them out

Note check out his website, www.modellchen.de for the pictures and description 1/18" W123 sedans, the light green 240D euro, or the sand beige 230E euro sedan, both by Revell, the "Premium Shopping" store price in Germany is 27,99 euros and it looks like Markus has both of them in stock right now.

www.xe.com is a good currency converter to use to get the price in US dollars, just work it out with him on the price and you are good to go.

Jim

Hey I hope you can get started collecting those, it's fun. There are cars, buses, trucks, semis and race car models to collect, lots of them. It's hard to stop with just one

No, I'm sorry, I don't even have a digital camera, maybe I can borrow one or something, then post up the pictures, the models are in boxes out in the garage.

I need to post up some pictures of the 1/1" scale Benz in the drivewway, I wish someone could take a picture, and make me a gallery and an avatar. Maybe Justinwrock or someone sometime

If you find a nice diecast W108, let me know. Hell I couldn't find decent posters with MB's on em.

Take your time and look around before you buy anything

Don, The 1/43" Minichamps line keeps cranking out the E, class models, W210, W211 and newer, wagons, coupes, Autobahn police cars and fire chief cars , and more. They keep up with the SL, C, S, CLK and other models too. You will enjoy waiting for the mail from Germany if you buy on ebay.

Agreed, it's a good idea to keep the packages they came in if you have room.

You could maybe get cheap glass display cases from IKEA, they look good, I had one back in SF, and it was kind of tough to assemble, you know IKEA, but I wired it up to light up at night. It looked pretty neat, when it was lit, and the cars showed off well and were kept cleaner and dust free..

There are some really beautifully detailed German Mercedes, like a 450SL and the Schwarz Prinz ("Black Prince") a 1930 Benz cabrio, and the '37 540K and Horch 853 made by CMC models also in 1/24" exquisite detail, but they cost about $130 in the box. (Better quality than the Franklin Mint and DSanbury mint Models, but the same size...) I had the signal red CMC 450SL but gave it away to a friend who helped me fix my car. I miss it.

Well I think this is the only W108 up right now, it's on www.ebay.de a silver 1968 300SEL 6.3 in 1/43 scale, it's an earlier Minichamps version, and it's advertised as OVP (in original packaging) but anyway type in Minichamps and 300SEL 6.3 and it should pop right up. It's auction 170046736029 price is 27,99 euros, the shop ships worldwide, has 100% good feedback on ebay.

Might be worth a look.

What posters are you looking for specifically, cars, trucks, any model in particular? I'd think some are out there. I bought a Volvo poster once (for the new Saint movie with a picture of the new C70 featured. and a "68 GT/CS Mustang poster too). They ship in cardboard tubes, piece of cake.

Posters, there ar a couple of them on www.ebay.de click auto & Motorrad, then Teile and zubehor section, and type in Mercedes Benz Poster.

You can see them a 300SL Gullwing and another a 280 SL pagoda roof.
Interesting. There used to be a fellow in Texas who made posters for the series of later cars, R107, W126, etc., he was in Texas and sold them through the "STAR" the MBCA publication, this was about 8 years ago or so.
Different issues of the STAR carried the different ones as magazine centerfolds, but you could buy a full size poster.
His name was Greg something, he was active on the old MBCA forum of that time.. The poster is out in the garage somewhere.
I got the W126 one, and it was awesome, and reasonably pirced. Maybe someone else remembers. If you want I can look for it, I think I still might have it.

Also go to www.ebay.co.UK and check out cars parts and accessories and key in the words "Mercedes Benz Poster, there are some posters, from the 30s, W108 model line, and a few others, worth a look, hope that helps,

Jim happy holidays
