IT is under Maintenance in the 13xx section under Poly-v belt check condition.
Good luck/.

Does anyone know where I can get a service Manual for my 99 S500 I just bought. The car was totaled by the insurance company for water damage (flood water) and I bought it from them . I need to find locations of components as well as instructions for removal of interior trim, seats, door panels etc. Will a service manual contian this information, and if so where can I get one???

THANKS ALOT!!!

It has been my experience that the service manuals (now only available on CD) are not available from Mercedes until the model car has been discontinued. With your Mercedes being so new, it would be difficult to locate a third party manual. MercedesShop has a CD overview in their Whats New? section. You can check this out to see which models have service CD's available.

Maybe another member has has sucess finding a good source for a third party manual.

Good luck.

Does anyone know where I can get a comprehensive service manual for my 88 190E? I have the cd and it's not so hot. I am contemplating rebuilding the top end of the engine but I don't have good enough info. Haynes just doesn't cut it. I want something with good schematics and part numbers. Any info is extremely appreciated. Thanks,

Kodiak

Part numbers are a different thing from the service manuals.
For part numbers, you want the microfiche or EPC.

As far as the quality of the CD is concerned, the the Cd's have the same info as the paper books.
In fact, they are the paper books.
Their biggest defect is the lousy quality of the images.
You won't find a more complete MB service manual anywhere.

If the book makes too many assumptions about what you should know, you might find the 3.8/5.0 service manual to do a better job holding your hand.

I believe that you'll find a 201 chassis manual up for sale on ebay. There WAS a 102 engine manual last week (I know, I was the seller).

Is there a good service manual or CD for my 1982 300D? I have the Haynes manual for the car, but I was looking for something more comprehensive.

Please help.
I am new to the MB world. Just purchased 1969 or 70 (not sure) 280SE 4dr.
How do I find a decent manual with P/N's.
It has a "D" on the rear.
I was told it is Euro version.
Where is the chassis #, and how do I translate it to something experienced people will understand?
I am quite stupid, but I want to learn.
Can I get help.
History on this make?

stupidity has nothing to do with it. You DID buy a benz after all. You've just stepped off a small cliff into a realm that you have little experience in. We all did that at some point in the past. You're just one of the new arrivals.

OK, first question, A "D in the back of what?" You mean a "D" sticker on the trunk? People do that here in the US if they've visited Europe or had a relative visit and bring back a souvenir.

The parts book w/ numbers is almost unfindable. But is also rarely needed by somebody that just owns a car for their amusement (in spite of the fact that I have spent the past 3 years tracking down parts books on ebay almost daily).

What you really need, is the right glove box picture book, so that you can converse intelligently to a parts supplier.

The other thing you need is the factory service manuals. Look for the 108-109-111-113 manual, there are at least two on ebay right now. Don't pay more than 40$ for it. Also, that same manual is available on CD.

That one manual won't tell you much about your engine, but it will have all body & electrical stuff you need. If you can the manual for "models starting 1959...", also on ebay (get the paperback version) and again, don't pay more than 40$, you will have tons of good reading material.

Lastly, there is a plate on the door pillar that will tell you the year of manufacture (the 1970 model year cars were built starting june 1969). It has your chassis number. On the block, over the oil filter by a few inches is a flat spot. The engine number is stamped there.

There are other web sites to visit. Check out http://www.mbz.org, http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/911_MFI/TipMFI.htm and of course the archives here.

PS. above all else, enjoy your search just as much as you will enjoy the fruits of it.

service manual luck

BTW, they treat manuals, for any MB, like Gold on ebay. I am always out-bid, by $1, at the last second. But I did luck out and found a used Chilton, 1965-1973, at Barns and Nobles at their web site in Reno Nevada, of all places. Only one listed in the whole country. It had belonged to the local Library. It was delivered to my brothers house today. Did I mention the previous owner supplied the glove box manuals. But my German is very limited.
Now were getting somewhere!

Assuming it is a six cylinder, Haynes has a pretty good manual for $20. You can find it and other various factory manuals from books4cars.com and tmcpubl.com. If anyone would have the parts book, it is tmcpubl.com.

Good luck and welcome to our forum.

Does anyone know of a store (on-line or not) where I can purchase the CD-ROM service manual for a 1987 560sl? They seem to be all on back order.
