" but all the MB manuals seem like a pain to locate things in, maybe its just me." LOLOLOLOL
It can not just be you because I am right there with you . Don't they understand the concept of numbering pages ... like 1,2,3 ?
I hope someone comes on and enlightens as to how it works...

Do you have a link?

Greg....." LOLOLOLOL "

OK glad to hear its not JUST me. I wind up by thumbing through till I find the relevant picture, easier to ask Mr Haynes unless more details are needed. Any ideas as to the whereabouts of Gravey starter cords?

I too have found Preformances prices a little high on most things but the catalog is sure useful.

I asked Schiff European Automotive Literature Inc. this question regarding a w203 and w210, and got this reply:

"The WIS is your ONLY option. It contains Vehicle Service Manuals, Diagnostic Manuals and Electrical Troubleshooting Manuals for ALL Mercedes-Benz models from 1990-2003 including the W210 and W203 models. There are two kickers. Firstly the WIS only operates on Windows 2000 Professional. It will operate on no other Windows system. Secondly is the cost. Option 1 is to purchase the set with installation instructions to install yourself, the cost is $ 625.00 + shipping & handling."

I haven't ponied up the cash for this yet, though I'd sure like to, once I figure out some justification to appease my better half!

HTH,
Dan

At that price I'd just get a Haynes Manual and a Pirate CD of the U.S. workshop Manual from ebay........

Together, they will be 90% as useful, and you've saved about $600 upfront.

let me second Arthurs recommendation for ALLDATA. I've been using them for about a year now and their information is up to date and very easy to navigate around in. I don't even use the factory CD's anymore now that I have ALLDATA. I think you'll be very impressed!! The cost is 25.00 for the first vehicle to register and 15.00 for the second one. It is only 15.00 yearly, per vehicle, after your first year to continue with them..

MB service manual Ac info

I have the new MB service manual for the 123. I am rebuilding the AC system.
When referencing the CD for the 82 Ac system It does not reflect the auto system I have in my 82 300TD.
I have to go to the 84 section of the manual to show the auto system.

Is this how you have to use the AC manual. Find the year that has your setup?

I am mainly looking at replacing the evaporator and all the vacuum units associated with the internals in the dash. While I have it open I want to check over everything and rebuild it once.

The factory doesn't have service manuals that cover one entire car anymore. The info is spread out in individual manuals that cover different areas. MOST of the newer info is in their computer based system called WIS, but even if you had WIS (which covers all the current models, not just the SLK) you could still be missing a bulletin or something.

Question Is this the service manual I want?

I am a relativly new owner of a 1987 190d 2.5 Turbo and I do all my own mechanical work. I would like to have a decent guide as I get into more and more involved repairs...and I plan on keeping this car until one of us dies.

After performing a serious archive search I have decided that the non factory repair manuals (Haynes and Bently) are not of decent quality and preferring paper over CDs I began a search for factory manuals for my 190d turbo.

I have so far been unable to find a Benz manual for 1987. But I have found a "1988 Mercedes-Benz Service manual covering models 107, 124, 126, and 201. " on Ebay. "292 pages"

So there are really 2 questions I need answered.
1. Would this cover my 1987 2.5 turbo model 201?

2. Would it provide info on the engine or only the chassis?

Seems with nearly 300 pages it would...but if MB factory manuals are of the same quality as the vehicles there may be two for each year...one for the chassis and another for the engine.

Thanks for any guidance you can give.

Dana

There service manual I have for my 617 engine (in a 123 chassis) lists the engine number on the front and only covers the engine, not the chassis. There has to be another manual for the chassis.

I have the Haynes, the CD and the engine manual.

Service Manual Library & Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.0

Will M-B's CD service manuals install on systems equipped with Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.0?

I keep getting a warning that the service manual requires Adobe Acrobat Active X control, which can be located in the file "ar32e301.exe" on the disc.

Active X is present in Reader 6... so why the warning? Is an older version of Reader required?
