I posted this here because its not really parts or fuel type specific I guess. I've been long after and am having trouble finding period/appropriate flaps for a w123. I can find them in Europe, etc. I don't really want to make my own. I'm ideally looking for the ones with a white MB star on them- you may have seen pics or the real thing. The ones in the accessory catolog from the early eighties. Recently tried to bid on a set for all four wheels on E-Bay UK but couldn't register in time to bid, etc. I know they're not common here but I would really like a set- any ideas?

the real mercedes mudflaps for the w123 are really expensive.

the knock offs are cheaper but they are not as long as the real version

I was reading about them in a recent "Mercedes Enthusiast" (UK Magazine) and the article said it's a very BAD idea to put them on.


.........The reason for it being that holes need to be drilled in the wheel arches for them, and is rust is accellerated with the salt and wet muck that gets into those drilled holes and stays there.

I put a set of factory mud flaps on my Jaguar XJ8 (I know, I know...)

It was a pretty cool design. The mud flaps had a rubber tab built in that wrapped around the wheel-well lip. A two-piece clip clipped this tab in place. No need to drill any holes, easily removable, and no damage caused by drilling holes.

Good luck, I've been looking for a set for my 240D for 6 months...

I found some in England, but was out bid on them.

Not sure about the UK but I heard that (At least back int he day....) Mudflaps were required in Portugal by law. Last I checked there were plenty of W123's still driving around there.

If they have to be drilled, I wouldn't buy them, but I had a set for my w210 wagon that I got from MB (which ordered them from Germany) that were no-drill and I loved them.
