1969 Mercedes Benz 1113 Truck Race Car Transporter.
This is a restoration project which is not for the faint of heart!
Used by Team Valour of Great Britian for the Formula 3 campaign of Eddie Cheever and later Ross Cheever.
It has a standard cab which is 4' 4" long with a crew cabin that is 5' and a cargo area 26' 4" long for an overall length of 35 feet 8 inches.
There is mechanism to double-stack cars in the truck.
Someone began a restoration project and started to dismantle the truck.
The driveshaft and transmission were removed and the rear doors removed to install a lift gate (no progress was made).
The engine is a Mercedes in-line 6 cylinder which we had running last year.
The cab is complete with the original seats and Blaupunkt radio.
The crew cabin has a gas stove, pump sink and cupboards.
There are built-in tool boxes in the cargo area.
We have a letter from Daimler Benz that the truck was built Oct 1968.
It was delivered to Valour Racing in Kent, England who used it as their race car transporter.
In 1985 it was sold to a gentleman from the U.S. who was a broker of Formula Fords.
It was shipped to the port of Baltimore Md. and driven to Harrisburg Pa with a load of formula cars. We have the DOT Import documents.
The cab has the usual rust.
Several of the aluminum side panels are loose and damaged.
The tires are poor.
But it is a Mercedes with Race History.
