Inexpensive Keys through a dealer

FYI:

I have just used MB of St Clair Shores, MI to get a master key for my 350SDL. Cost: about 15.90!

Lots better than the other dealers.

I faxed a copy of the registration to the guy and he did the rest.

Naturally I called first to Parts before doing this.

Might be worth using for some people, I have seen keys like this for 50.00

That is a good price Strelnik. I ordered a new master key for my 86 300E 5 Speed and the stealer, WWM in Indy charged me $75.00 and I believe $35.00 for my 83 240D. That was early this summer, 2011.

I got all new master/valet keys for both the '76 & '77 by showing the Parts Guy the current vehicle registration certificate for each car. He ordered the keys and they ran about $17-$18 a piece.

Took about a week to arrive.

And when they arrived, they worked like "day one" keys...no snags or hang-ups...

This was Ballweg Mercedes Benz of Wausau.

I dont understand why the dealership would charge anything over $20 for a non computer chip key. The w123/126 and older keys are stupid simple to cut and the w124 keys are laser cut so you have to go to the dealership.
