But this just brings up another question, i.e. will any of these 722.418 fit my 1992 300D? Sheesh....

To check the compatibility of each part number you now need to check out the shifting points (mentioned above whilst you were typing) and the rear differential ratios...

...the stripped down racing snake EPC can help with the final drive gear ratios.

The speed at which they are meant to shift is something I can't help you with. I don't have the German FSM versions for your car.

No, I mean just 722.413.
.414 is for nonTURBO and has different inner construction.
.413 and .418 has identical valve body assembly and inner parts, vacuum pressure settings, etc.

No, it isn't. Will interchange only 722.413.
I writing that 722.418 fitted only with 602-turbo.

Hope this isn't redundant

I don't remember where I got this file, but it may be relevant to some. Hope this hasn't been included already. With my knowledge-base right now, this is all a little hard to follow.
