1979 300D mercedes 113k - $500 (scotts valley)

Parts Car. This car was in great running order with only 113k miles! However, I accidently dropped the top 10mm nut from the top of the air filter cover into the intake. The nut fell into the head and through the open valve onto the piston. It was then forged into the piston. I've stripped the engine down and pulled the head off. The #3 piston now has a big dent in it. The head and valves are miraculously unharmed. Prior to the incident the car ran and drove great, no issues. I don't have the time or money to put into rebuilding this engine, an am selling it as a parts car. The body has some major cancer, real rust issues! Was a new Jersey car. I haven't even put it in my name yet as we just bought the thing a few weeks before I killed it. However, it does have a clear title and current registration. I'd rather not part the car out if i can help it. Please e-mail, call or text if interested. I have spotty reception here so if you call PLEASE leave a message- I'll get back to you ASAP! Asking $500. Located in Felton (by Scotts Valley) in the Santa Cruz mountains. Will obviously need to be towed!

When in doubt, it definitely fell into the engine.

this vaguely reminds me of some guy, and his friend, who posted on craigslist a pic of a nice dark red 126 OM603 300 SDL in very nice shiny condition......the asking price, 2500, isnt unheard of depending whats wrong, so i called them, and talked, and so they said how its the second owner, and garage and carport and the owner is a car collector with a bunch of porsche's who just got another Turbo and needs his garage so now the car is outside and he wants to just sell it, the neighbor in back is German and has like 10 123's in the backyard for parts, etc etc etc bla bla bla........so a "benz buddy" and i drove 380 miles into northern central florida in the middle of nowhere to go buy the car.......suspicions arose right away when we got into town and met the guy, and instead of following him to the house to see the car, he led us to a gas station, and we waited for 15 minutes for someone else to show up with the car ("battery was dead needed a jump, etc") is what he said......ok, also not unheard of......so finally as i'm cleaning bugs off the windshield of my 240 D, a smoking, dented, faded rusted POS pulls in......with steering oil gusing out of the pump.....anyways the car was completely demolished, NOTHING (except strangely the front suspension and the driveline) on the car was ok, it was just a disaster all around......so then, instead of apologizing for being liars, wasting our time all day, they switch into "what would you be willing to pay us, offer anything"

we drove away.....poor car......the motor itself idled nice.....
