HFM Scanner Software by Misha

I did some research about a piece of software that does a live scan on your W124 104.99x engine. It also claims to draw a plot of the O2 sensor from live data.
It would have been nice to get some live data from my 95 E320 W124 with the 104.992 engine.
So I went to download the software pointing to a site from an old thread elsewhere.
Since I am a retired Electronics Engineer, I quickly whipped up an interface that is needed to convert the serial data stream coming from your OBD, into an RS232 signal.
This interface maybe available from e-bay or other sources possibly as ISO K Line or ISO 9141 Interface.
For the electronically inclined, it is not too expensive to built one from an MC33660 and an MAX232 a few capacitor and one pull-up resistor. Example can be found in the MC33660 data sheet.
Downside:The MC33660 is only as Surface Mount device available. (Cost about $1.00)

The link given for the HFM Scan Software had only an outdated version and didn't work at all.

Here is an updated link for the HFM Scan Software by Misha in Russia.

I e-mailed a little back and forth with a person that I still have not identified. Maybe it was Misha? The person was more than willing to help.
With the HFM Scan Version 1.29c everything went fine. My interface worked just fine and in no time the computer was communicating with the OBD. I think!!
There was absolutely no data showing on screen, except for some counter, possibly for debug purpose and if I understood correctly was pointing to a failure with my second O2 Sensor being short. Well, I don't have two O2 sensors!!!!

The software will ask you to perform certain runs / changes at different engine RPM's to create a log file for your car and your car only. The log file is essentially meaningless to the person that has never seen Hexadecimal notations.
You are asked to e-mail this log folder to hfmscan@mail.ru to receive, as I was under the impression, your registration. That part might have gotten lost in the translation!
I fairly quickly received an e-mail with the interpreted data that pointed out that my MAF was producing a too low voltage. There are no fault codes in perm or temp memory of the OBD system.

This makes me believe that the software maybe worth to have if a problem shows up and little or no info can be retrieved from the OBD counter system.
To be able to see live data, unfortunately I don't know what else is included in the package, "you'll have to pay $55.00 via paypal." to something equivalent like usmail.us
Don't get me wrong, I just don't like to buy a cat in the sack. So, I backed out!

The info about the cost of the software came in the last e-mail!

Because there is absolutely no useful data to me with a non registered version,
I leave it to any ones own judgement.
Feel free to explore, I was considering to start a project of my own, designing a portable device with a small colour TFT display, but waived the idea quickly after ending up in nowhere land regarding Mercedes Benz information and their OBD system.
One has to have some connection or must be very lucky to get your hands on the information needed to implement a scanning device correctly. Although the CAN bus and 9141 specifications are defined, there is absolutely no agreement between Manufacturer regarding where to put the actual data within the data stream.

Maybe one should reverse engineer this?
