Does anyone make a paper manual for a W126?

I need help I just bought a 300SDL and can't find a repair manual for it. I need one that covers the engine, ac system, and general electrical systems. I would be willing to buy 2 or 3 if they just covered the cars systems. Help!!

manuels

There is a link here somewhere to an on line manuel for the 617 and the 603 diesels. I couldn't find them, but somebody should know where they are.

MB published paper manuals for the W126. There are separate volumes for chassis, engine and AC. Not sure if there's a separate electrical volume or if it's part of the chassis volume. There's also a maintenance manual that covers several series in a given timespan. Transmission manuals are available but I've never seen one. Not sure if they're published by MB or ZF.

The 126 CD manual set that I have doesn't have a transmission manual or a maintenance section. The 124 CD manual set that I have has a maintenance section. Useful for the S420.

I have the 123 in the Cd and paper. I would recommend the paper even though its more expensive.
This is why.

You can buy the CD from Mercedes or on Ebay. Are the Ebay ones the same as the Mercedes CD? I don't know I have never talked to anyone who has compared them.

Go here to buy the paper copies.

http://www.books4cars.com/

The CD contains the following Its $100-$130
Engine Manual
Electrical Trouble Shooting Manual
Maintenance Manual
Owners manual
Climate Control Manual
Chassis and Body Manual

To complete the collection I would like the following
Parts Identification Manual

Just my 2 cents.

Dave

Thanks I ordered two manuals off that books4cars site yesterday. I got the 600pg diesel engine manual that is supposed to cover every diesel made after 1986. I also got a W126 and W124 climate control trouble shooting manual. They also offered a electrical trouble shooting manual but I will order that when I need it. I guess you can't go down to your local autoparts store and grab a $20 Chilton's off the shelf with these cars. The two manuals with shiping came to $166.85

I have an 89 300SE, W126 that I would love to find a decent manual for engine, electrical and chassis.

I wanted to support this forum so I bought the CD from the parts department that sponsors this forum and they are the genuine MB produced CDs but they are the worse excuse for technical reference I have seen in any industry.

I am embarassed to admit I spent that much money for the sorry quality of the CD. Poor user interface, no recognizable way to search, instructions that are not even near the depth of Haynes and I consider Haynes pretty limited.

Sorry to complain but they should come with a warning.

Rant over.

Mike,

Have you bought from that company before?

If so, how would you compare the manuals for depth and breadth of information?

Thanks in advance.

I purchased a 103 engine manual from them.

MB manuals leave much to be desired from a diyer perspective, but then again, they were not written for us.

I've purchased everything out there for my MB and none is better than the doc MB provides.

It's as good as it's going to get.

Last but not least you have this site and about 5 yrs. worth of history. The SEARCH button has helped me as much as anything.

I wouldn't beable to own an old Merc with out this site. However nothing can replace having a paper manual sitting next to you as you pull something apart, or try to figure out how to put it back together.

Manuals

I sold my 123, 107,126, Factory Manuals to a guy who advertises in the star by the name of Alex Voss. He also advertises manuals for sale, The 126 had a three volume body manual, a one volume engine manual, and comonent elecrical manual(much easier to understand than the wiring diagrams) but included simple wire diagrams and locations with pictures. They are getting hard to find and probably pricey (few hundred for a set)

Thanks Keith that does sound like a great deal, but I think the two manuals I bought will be all that I need for now. I may add an electronic trouble shooting one latter.
