Thumbs up Pinnacle Automotive in Chicago Suburbs

If you are looking for a great shop to service your MB give Pinnacle Automotive in Woodridge (SW Suburbs of Chicago) a try. I have used them a couple of times now for my recently acquired 1997 SL500. Without a doubt Steve and Brian are exceptionally knowledgable and go the extra mile for the sake of customer satisfaction. They have reasonable rates and are professional technicians, not parts changers. The address is 6809 Hobsen Valley Drive, #115., Woodridge, Illinois 60517. Phone number is 630-512-0516. Other than being a satisfied customer, I am not affiliated with the shop. :)

I bought a 2000 ML320 (36K mi) last week from Carmax in Naperville and called MB of Naperville for the repair history and talked several times to the service department (general questions) in the past week. I didn't notice an attitude, in fact they were very nice. I have yet to experiance a repair visit there but hope the negative review of this shop in this thread no longer holds true. Anyone have any recent data on MB in Naperville?

Thanks,

Can't attest to the service department but I occasionally stop in for parts...and every now and then get a good deal. Parts guys always seem nice, and salesmen will take it easy if they see you wearing dirty clothes and roll in with a 124/201/126. At least my experience.

I will say that the service dept. is geared for volume...a whole office dedicated to loaners (with a fleet of C's lined up in a row outside)...with lotsa space and lotsa people activity when I've been there. Maybe they're all getting soaked, but there would seem to be alot of people getting soaked then.

If nothing else, it's worth a visit to play with the Maybach 57. You can pop the hood, play with all the buttons and examine it inside and out. Only 2 dealers in Illinois are setup I think.

I got my ML320 back from service (MB of Naperville). They replaced the harmonic balancer, gas pedal cable, power steering clip and hose, and rear pass door weather seal. All work was done under warranty free of charge. They were very pleasent and did a good job. I'm taking the truck in this week to have the AC checked out (low output). They wanted $160 to put in fog lamps and program the chip saying the programming accounted for the bulk of the labor charge. The labor charge for a laptop hookup and bit change seemed excessive to me so I declined. All in all they seem like a good dealership to use for service and warranty work.

Thanks for the info. I have the MB factory warrranty till Sept 04 but intend to give these gents a try after that. I already touched base with them over the phone for some general questions and they were very open and willing to help.

Chicago area body shop

I have searched the forum and found some good information... but would like to see if anyone has any more recent experience with a good body shop in North Suburban Chicago (Lake County or northern Cook). I am going to get an estimate from Knauz and will check out Collision Revision (which serves as a body shop to several of the dealerships on Route 41) -- I have taken a Lexus to Foreign and Domestic Auto Body in Libertyville -- any thought on any of these?

Thanks

Unless things have changed dramatically in the last three or four years, the finest body shop in the area in Body Werks of Barrington.

I am impressed with Acura of Libertyville. I took a tour of their facility when I purchased my 2001 Acura 3.2 TL last year. They custom blend their paint and have newer paint booths.

I highly, highly recommend talking to Bernie @ North Shore Auto Service on Broadway in Chicago. It may be a little more of a drive for you, but you will thank yourself. You absolutely will not find better work anywhere for any price. He is a Mercedes-Benz certified body shop and has been in business for a long time. Very knowledgable, straight and to the point. You are doing yourself a disservice if you do not at least call him. He has helped me out in the past and I could not be happier with his work or his level of customer service.

new keys in chicago

it has been two weks since i went to international autos in milwaukee for my new key. they got the wrong blank that was 1/2 in longer than my key.

i called knauz and was given the name of dan the key man in libertyville. called there 847-362-1077. they confirmed they had the blank and i got two keys for $6.71. not 25 bucks each thru a dealer.

support them.
