Snibble,

You have a 88' 300sel correct? Avoid Ed Potter, just to darn expensive. For years, my stepfather and now have gone to Blagoi's International Car Service.

I trust him. Period.

Hes got to locations 3816 E. Livingston, were the owner Blagoi is located, and where i prefer to take mine, and one way out on 1880 Riverside Dr.

Hes done brakes, my compete exhaust (less than 400 for that), engine cleaning, valve adjustments, and front end work. Gives 6mo./6,000mi. warranty on most everything i think.

Brett

You can try MB Classic Cars. 3241 N High St. their phone number is 261-1862. They have done all the work on my car and my dad's car 300E and S320. Never had a bad experience with them, and they don't BS. Give them a call if you ever need anything.

I have tried Evans Automotive on Morse Rd and have been very pleased...they seem to have experience on the higher end vehicles as there are always plenty in there for service ...they have done a brake job(4 wheel) and replaced some cooling system....I actually bought the parts at Fastlane and had Evans do the install

Any good MB techs in Cincinnati?

I am trying to locate an MB shop or person working at their home shop who can work on my 1983 380 SEL. I have found a couple of auto shops, but they are charging 100% markup on parts; and not allowing customers to bring in their own parts. I can see a 15-20% markup but come on....100%???

Are there any good/fair techs that are looking for work???

Thanks,

Scott

Crown Euro Cars Inc. Dublin, Ohio

I took my 190D to crown here. They were really helpful, did great work on the car, and their people are very knowlegable. My complaints are they took a lot longer than I feel they should have (they don't work weekends, so there it sat for 2 days) and of course the prices were high. I went in expecting to get a little bit of work done (sunroof needed fixed, and my coolant pump was dying) and I came out with a 3500 dollar bill. She definately runs and feels like a new car though! I don't think I'll take it back for service to a merc dealer because of the prices. But if you don't care about the cost of the work, Crown is definately a place to go!

I took mine to Crown in dublin. The prices were a lot more than I'd like to pay again... but oh well. What's done is done. I think when I need work done I will call the Blagoi place. How are his prices compared to a merc dealer? Thanks.

I have also taken mine to crown in Diblin many times...especially when the car was still under the warranty I bought with it.....you are right they are rather pricey....depending on the scope of work to be done I am sure I will be visiting Crown MB again as well as Evans automotive

Well, you can't expect these guys to work on weekends, that's a given.

hi there 190D22!

Ed Potter and Crown of Dublin charge way too much in my oppinion. I go to a Mercedes Tech for my repairs. He is one of the best in my oppinion and probably the friendliest tech you will ever meet. He lives in London, Ohio... but comes to Columbus very often to do work at Auto Expo on North High Street. He will fix your car up good for a fraction of what the dealers charge... here is his info:

Michael Holtschulte
Service Technician
21 years Mercedes-Benz service experience
Factory trained-ASE certifies
-professional service by appointment-
(740) 852-8959

I have taken my car to Crown almost exclusively for the past three years...the MAJOR reason being that I drive a 140 and I have been frankly too afraid that the indys around here cannot deal with the complexity of the 140 chasis...except for the brakes etc.....but for AC and electrical work I am too afaraid to go to them

Guys: I bought an 89 300E about a month ago. Got the MB manual on CD and have done some minor repairs. It's eating about a quart of oil per tank of gas and after a lot of research on this website I have concluded that I should have the valve seals replaced as a first step. Went into Hatem Automotive in Grandview for a quote and they told me they had never heard of such a thing and that I shouldn't believe anything I read on the internet. They look like real pros, so I'm still planning to use them for a big repair sometime.

Thanks for the Holtshulte info. The owner of Auto Expo was telling me all about him as he attempted to sell me a car but wouldn't give me his name or phone. Small world, isn't it?

Had second thoughts about Hadem and called Holtschulte instead. Sure enough, the first thing he asked me is where did I get his name and number. I told him, "Sharif sent me," and that seemed to work. We talked for a long time and I think that he's going to see my 300E next week. I feel lucky. Thanks again.
