Well,
I know of two, one is my retired independent - he still maintains my cars, but is picky about who he works with. Better PM me if you want to talk to him.

The other is Foreign Performance on Burkhardt Rd. They did the evaporator core on my '93 300d and did an excellent job at 55% of the dealer estimate cost. They were recommended to me by the guy above, who said he is too old to sit upside down removing the dash for that many hours. Also a Bosch shop.

Last, for body work, Mike's Autobody did a great and inexpensive job for me (any shop can do the expensive version). My rear quarter panel was rusting out, and needed replacing. Estimates were in the $2000 range. Mike found a used quarter panel, crimp welded it in place, and painted/repaired the rest for $600! It looks great and should last as long as the rest of the car.
