There is a shop just east of Iowa City. He's an independent. I completely forgot the name. Just off of I-80 and a few miles past highway 1. There isn't much out there and shouldn't be too hard to find. Does only European Autos.

IMO, the best independent mercedes shop in Iowa is White Dog in Iowa City, IA. Competent, honest, reasonable, knowledgeable. They also do a great job on Audi. Kept my 88 300TE with 340,000 running well with no fuss, no overselling of service.

The only reliable service I've found here over a two year period is "Jaguar Alley" in Davenport. They can fix most benz problems, charges are reasonable, and they're quite ethical. They also have a body shop.

Duffey's European Motors is simply the best MB shop in the area. He is MB and Volvo exclusively. White Dog sends Volvo's they cannot fix to Duffey's. He is an absolute electrical gremlin genius. Did electrical troubleshooting for Fletcher Jones and Vegas and Phoenix. Leon is as honest as the day is long. I have no affiliation to him other than being a very satisfied customer.

I have to add that I've had very good service on my E320 at Carousel motors, the, gulp, dealer in Iowa City. I've had a number of things done there and they were always on time and for what I would characterize as a reasonable price. I was particularly impressed when the tech found a bad electrical connection $26 part, which two other "expert" bosch certified shops couldn't locate. Total for that repair was $111. I had spent a lot previously at the shops that couldn't find the problem. I've had quite a bit of regular maintainence done there, oil changes, coolant flush, tranny flush, etc., and was charged less than in some indy shops. Go figure, a dealer?

I called White dog in Ia City the other day about my MB 300SD and they no longer work on them

Both PT in clive and Duffeys in Iowa City are both closed.

STeve Pellum in clinton does great work in Clinton.
As does Cliff Wolf in Mitchellville.
