Chances are decent that I'm going to have them install a new turbo in my 1985 300SD. I'll let everyone know how it goes.

i do not live in STL, but if u are in columbia then toms import would be the best. it is not a MB specialty shop.actually its a VW shop. but they deal with imports, the shop is kinda small. but the owner and people there are honest and won't screw you over.

i once had a quote of $350 to replace my upper ball joint. 200 something for part (control arm)and the rest for labor (2 hours he said). i went to this store they said the part is $80, and it takes an hour ($50). so i am a satisfied customer, and so i pass it on.

but anyways sorry no idea about STL.

Thanks for the reply. That sounds just like the kind of place I'm lookin' for! But according to my map Columbia is about 120 miles from St. Louis and I doubt I'd be able to convince the guy to drive that for me.

But you never know! If I don't get any better info I may just have to try.

Yeah, there are honest people there. It's just a matter of finding them!

I think the 300TD I'm trying to buy will complement the 914 rather well. It will almost fit in the back of the wagon!

the best guy in hutchinson or witchita is Ron Marker of Markers european auto service, he is on the north side of hutchinson, independent , and as honest as the day is long ill guarantee you. he is very affordable. and if you treat him right he'll treat you right.
my dad and i have both delt with him since the early 70's when we first had him recommended to us. he is also a good source for used cars as he dabbles in them too. not just mercedes, but saab, volvo, porshe, jag, rolls, all of them.
good luck on your new endevors!!
tell Ron, matthes from missouri sent you!!!

is number is 1-800-400-5934

I concur wholeheartedly. Marker's European is the ticket. Ron is honest, competent, and a real character...

Good Shop in the Kansas City Area

I am having good results with the following shop.
Morrie is a graduate Mechanical Engineer from Kansas University and his family still maintains a Mercedes Benz dealership in his home country of Persia. He said over there the MB is as common as the Chevrolet is here in the US.
Morrie's Auto Sales & Repair LLC
935 Kansas Avenue
Kansas City, KS 66105
Office 913-281-5300
Fax 913-281-5301

Thumbs up Morrie's is alright

Thanks for the tip John.
I was looking for a trustworthy Indy to help me deal with a HVAC vacuum problem.
Morrie was stright up about the potential issues, and prices. As a bonus he seems to be a real nice fellow.
