Thumbs up Aristocrat Motors

Aristocrat Motors in Shawnee Kansas is top notch.
I'm a do it yourselfer by nature, but just had the Trap Oxidizer Campaign recall on my 87 300TDT performed by Aristocrat Motors (Mercedes Service Advisor Scott Hunt).

They did almost everything right:
1. Inspected the car on a brief hour visit
2. Ordered in the parts
3. One week later they scheduled a time, gave me a nice red 06 C280 free rental for a day and replaced the Oxidizer and the entire exhaust system.

I did say they did almost everything right: Since mine was a Wagon, they ordered one wrong part, that was air freighted overnight. I didn't mind, I got to drive the pretty red loaner car an extra day.

Thumbs down Scholfield Auto Plaza

Scholfield Auto Plaza on East Kellogg would be OK if you are having late model service - but they dislike working on anything old -

Aristocrat is pretty good, they did the subframe recall job on one of my R107's. Some of the service folks weren't thrilled about me coming in with a 30 year old car, but others were very happy to help.

There is an independent shop in Lawrence, KS that should be noted. Red Ink Racing in North Lawrence does all kinds of European cars, including weird old ones. He has a lot full of SEVERAL old Benzes and he is very knowledgeable. His prices are a little steep for an indy shop, but the guy really knows his stuff. I've had Volvos worked on there and a 300SD.

Additionally, the shop Beau's Imports in Lawrence damn near killed my 300SD. It wasn't starting and I had it taken over to them to work on. They got it running, and I immediately noticed that some of the wood trim on the door was broken off, and about half way between Kansas City and Wichita I noticed a strong smell of burning oil. Turns out one of their mechanics tore the hose from the crankcase vent to the air filter and tried to put garden hose over the tear. I was not amused. They denied they had anything to do with it.

Aristocrat

I bought my first MB from them in 1970 (a 280SL) and my last MB in 2000 (an S500/W220), and they have serviced both cars for as long as I have owned them. They are probably one of the best, if not the best, MB dealer/service center in the US. I highly recommend them to anyone looking to buy or service a MB!

They also offer a 15% discount on all parts and labor to anyone who is a member of the MB Club of America. Membership in MBCA is only $45 and I saved more than twice that amount on just my last service alone.

A top-notch, premier operation!

Thumbs up Aristocrat

I just purchased a 2007 C230SS from Aristocrat and I have to agree that they are first class all the way. They also are the only shop remotely close that is recognized/recommended by and performs RENNTECH work on MB's.

Rock Chalk- That's some good info about the 15% discount for MBCA members. I'm glad I joined!

Aristocrat is sponsoring a tech session for the KC Section of MBCA at the end of the month, and the service manager is serving ribs for lunch. Though you have a new car, you might want to check into it...

Tech session

Thx- I'll actually be taking my car up that way for the courtesy 3-5K mile diagnostic check up, and to have them fix the chirping noise in the dash. I may just schedule to leave it up there for the RENNTECH ECU upgrade too.

Anyone in the KC Metro Area, Executive Auto in Blue Springs works on mine, my fathers two, and my brothers SDL's. All he works on are Mercedes. They are not as much into the newest stuff, but he is very, very, honest. We have been taking our Benz's to him for about 15 years now. In fact, if he was not around, I would sell mine! 816-224-3663.

Hey Nick--I've been buying and servicing my MBs at Aristocrat Motors since my first one--a 1970 280SL. That's 37 years and I can't say enough good things about them. They are having a free tech session on Saturday, at which time they will do a complete inspection of our cars. They will walk us through every part of our cars, put them up on the rack, and do a driving test w/ us. It's a great way to really get to know our cars, inside and out. At noon the Service Manager is serving his famous KC ribs to us. It is the best MB place in the U.S. You might want to try them.

Thumbs up Another Kansas Shop

Marker's European Auto Service
Ron Marker - Brian Marker - Jerry Dick
822 East 56th Avenue
Hutchinson, KS 67502
620-662-3504
800-400-5934

I just had some work done there on an '85 300SD. They helped me with guide rods, a dead lower ball joint and then did a great all around survey of the car and found some other stuff that said needed attention. Also found a couple of things that would have cost me a ton in repairs later.

They led me through everything they saw that they thought needed work and then asked me what I wanted done. Even schooled me on the best method and oil for doing the old oil changes.

Honest people, great rates, friendly service. I believe the labor was $65.00 per hour and they can't be making anything on the parts.

I was there longer than I expected (my ride was delayed) and Ron's wife even made me a sandwich at lunch time!

Ron even went so far as to answer a couple of questions I had concerning my Kia Sorento that my wife drives.

They do work on pretty much any import, but seem to specialize in German engineered autos.

These people will be getting my business from now on.
