COLORADO, Fort Collins MB shop ?

New guy here, posted this as a reply to my first question-( sorry)
I see a lot of MBs running around Fort Collins, Colorado, anyone in the area know where these are going to be fixed worked on?
I'm looking for a shop to do an oil change, check fluid levels, pads etc. before I jump into the DIY mode
1) Rudy's Star Service
2) Poudre Sports Car
3) Autobaun West ( riverside)
4) European Auto ( riverside)
5) OTHER ????????????????
( where not to go) Not affliated with any of them, just starting to network

Thanks for all suggestions

Ft Collins Shops

Hi SJ
cant comment on all of the shops on your list. I have dealt mostly with Mike over at Autobahn west on Riverside. He has been open to selling me some parts and I have had a couple of good conversations with him about diesels. He is usually pretty booked up, which I take as a good sign. He definitly knows his stuff and is very "by the book" when it comes to fixing things.

I have had a couple of interactions with the guys at european imports (John and Willem) a couple of times looking for parts etc, and they have been nice and helpful but never could really come through. John is the one doing the work and will talk with you at length about your car if you can get a few minutes with him.

Hope this helps out!

Cheers
Eric

By the Book?

Eric,
When you say "by the book" do you mean that they do proper work or are you referring to charging book time?

Thanks.

just moved

Hi I just moved from Springfield, MO to Fort Collins CO. I worked at Mercedes Benz dealer till I moved here. There is no Mercedes Benz dealer in Fort Collins . So I started to work at an independent import shop called 'A & B Imports', so I get to work on all imports . I have a strong love for Benz. I love to talk about Benz. If you have any questions, I will be more then happy to answer any questions as best of my knowledge. Well, actually I just need someone I can talk about Benz. My wife just had it with my benz storys anyway.

Kinda looking too.

I have a couple of fintails. I just bough a nice 1968 230s that is beige with red interior and I have had a 1967 230s - White for about five years. Since then I have done most of the work myself.

I would like to find someone too who knew a bit more about the older cars. I have only had Rudy adjust the carbs. He seems to be good for getting Mercedes parts fast. Usually the same day if you call early or next day.

Other than that, I have had some good luck with the guys at R&R right near the railroad tracks on north college when I had my volkswagons, but have not used them for mercedes.

They seem awfully German.

Hey Opie sorry for the late reply

By "by the book" I meant he follows the factory specs to the "t". I think its great, and Im sure he does very good work. The only problem I have is that I get the impression that if you want to do something like run biodiesel or WVO etc. he's not too open to the idea because the factory doesn't really approve it, etc for the older engines. Its fine with me, he can run his shop any way he deem suitable. He definitely knows his stuff on the diesels.

I've been using Mike at Autobahn West for over 20 yrs and would highly recommend him but I am not sure he is still at his location on Riverside. Has anyone seen him recently? I need an overhaul on my '88 300E and would do it myself but always appreciated Mike's input or assistance.

Who is the guy from Missouri, I have a couple other MB's and like to talk about them too.

Mike at AutoBahn is now out off of Timberline just north of Mulberry. He is in the book. I have been to him in the last month.

I have had good luck with Rudy's for the last 6 years. He is really good with the older benzes and reasonably priced. He has been in business since the 70's and it is a mom and pop kind of operation. He has a quite a few junk cars in the back and he has let me pull parts before.

The great thing about rudy is that he only fixes exactly what you tell him too. Some shops think that because you drive a mercedes you can pay for any and all repairs, this is not the case with rudy. I find him to be fair, honest and i he does good experienced work.
