I drove up to KC for Thanksgiving break and while I was there my upper oil coolant line on my 85' 300SD began spirting oil all over my engine and transmission. Apparently, a bad motor mount caused my engine to tilt and the power steering belt wore out a notch in the side of the hose. I noticed this late Thursday evening.

After calling around (on a Friday morning) Ben from Star Motors in Brookside told me he could take care of me. He had all the parts on hand and could start as soon as I brought the car in.

He replaced the upper and lower oil cooler lines, both motor mounts and my transmission mount THAT DAY. He even stayed open late on Friday to finish my car so that I could pick it up Saturday morning.

I was able to drive home on Sunday with no problems and the car runs even smoother than when I bought it. I highly recommend this shop. The labor is about 80 bucks an hour but they do EXCELLENT work.

I just returned to KC again for the Holidays and had several issues that needed sorting out with my car again. A friend at Avenue Auto (Foreign Car Junkyard - The Best in KC) gave me the card for a man named Woody who works at Star Motors in Brookside. He came to my house, picked my car up, worked on it until 2am and it was ready the next day. He only charges 50 bucks an hour labor and you get great service and free pick up and delivery. He's got 20+ years of MB experience, honest and saved me about 600 dollars. I am so pleased that I'm having him do some more not so pressing work for me before I leave town.

Richard, what did his parts and labor breakdown on this job cost you? Just curious?

I changed my own motor mounts on my '83 300SD, and both oil cooler lines myself, and it was a bear changing the lines with only jackstands and floor jack in my garage. The lines were costly, mounts were cheap, and this was over 10 years ago. I get through KC occasionally, sometimes in my MB, and it's good to know of good indies!
