My 21 y/o daughter left Friday afternoon on a cross-country trip in her '86 300E 5-speed. When she got to the Omaha / Lincoln area Saturday night, the car died from major electrical system failure. This morning, a local auto parts chain store was able to ascertain that the battery was good, but the alternator was not charging the battery. They had neither the alternator nor a voltage regulator in stock.
When she phoned me, I searched this forum, located the name and tel. number of a recommended shop in Omaha and called.
Dean Winans (402-561-9808) was wonderful. He gave my daughter directions to his shop, met her there, replaced a worn out voltage regulator and sent her on her way to Idaho. His charge was reasonable, almost too little for his time and trouble on a Sunday evening, and we cannot thank him enough for rescueing my little "damsel in distress".
If you're ever in the Omaha area, or live there, I recommend Dean highly.
