Gallery Listing Shows No Photos

I've downloaded photos in different ways, yet when complete, the gallery still tells anyone who might be browsing that my listing has no photos - even though they're viewable when you click on the title. What do I do to correct this?

You have not uploaded any photos to the gallery. What you have done is link to photos that exist on another website.

There are photos in my gallery listing right now - even though it shows zero photos. I've uploaded them via URL and simply by linking to the image. Uploading them by either method provides the same result - images that can be seen if you click on the gallery listing, but images that are somehow not recognized, which results in it showing 0 pictures.
