We just performed a major software upgrade in the Shop Forum.
There are some new features

Have fun and let me know if something doesn't work.

It takes up much more screen space than it used to.

The "View My Photo Gallery" takes up an additional 3 lines of space and the Bookmarks and Tags eat up even more space between the thread and quick reply box.

Personally, I don't like the Bookmarks box, it just seems like additional advertising. The Tags box seems like it will be a magnet for spam messages. See below, I can post a website address in the tags line. While it may not be a link to the site it will still show the spammer's web address.

Thanks for the feedback. I may disable some of those features. You make good points.

Ok
I have restricted the use of "tags" at least for now. That feature would help people to locate information on the forum but, the potential use by spammers is a real concern.

The "bookmarks" feature is not advertising. It is a way for people on the website to make other people on the internet aware of useful information on MercedesShop.

Here's an example to understand how it works:

Joe, a regular user on our website, posts an informative article on our site about repairing desiel injection pumps.

Sally, another user at our site, really likes the article and is a member of Digg. She thinks that others will like it as well. So she submits the article to Digg.

Digg adds a link to our site along with a summary of the article and an icon if available. They also add it to their search engine.

Now as a member of Digg, I am looking on their site for information about repairing my diesel injection pump. I enter my search. The results come back. Now Joe's article has become pretty popular and 10 people have "dugg" it. This moves it up the results in the list and it is the number one search. Since others found it worthwhile, I click on it to read the entire article on our site.

If our site has other interesting articles then I will probably register and as time goes on, I will submit more content to Digg (and other sites) so more people on the Internet can find the content on our site and visit it.

Advertising our site to others instead of advertising others sites to us.

Visitor Messaging
This forum features a visitor messaging system that allows members to send messages to one another publicly.
I can see that being another spam tool.

The Profile pages no longer have useful data displayed right away other than last activity and info displayed in every post, you have to select the tabs on the details you want.

I'm glad the ShopForum Gallery is now in the main menu, it was kind of hard to find before.

I have seen the Tags feature get used for anonymous name calling on another V-Bulletin forum. Seems like potential trouble to me.

I had a fairly long Buddies list. Is that gone? A couple of folks from my buddies list have sent me requests to be on my friends list. Is there someway to carry the "Buddies" over to the "Friends" list?
