1990 Lexus LS400 - FOR SALE
I have decided to go ahead and sell my Lexus. Here are the details:
1990 Lexus LS400 4dr, 4.0L DOHC V8 (250 hp), automatic transmission, power windows, power locks, power seats, power antenna, power mirrors, power trunk release, power fuel door release, cruise, electronic tilt wheel w/"auto up" feature, telescope steering column, remote entry, leather interior, gold trim package, power moonroof, twin electronic trip odometers, am-fm-cassette, power steering, power brakes, driver airbag, anti-lock 4-wheel disc brakes, illuminated entry, factory Lexus tool kit in trunk, first aid kit (needs new supplies). Still have factory window sticker. Car sold for $39,990 in January of 1990. Mechanical: The car has high highway mileage @ 231K, but the engine still runs extremely smooth and the transmission shifts are superb- NO LEAKS. These cars are built to last hundreds of thousands of miles. Interior: is excellent throughout- including leather seats, instrument panel, headliner and carpeting. Exterior: is good- has some dings and scratches here and there, NO RUST. Paint still gleams otherwise. I had new rear struts installed shortly after I got it. I (nor the shop) had no idea that the car had to be re-aligned after this. I noticed a vibration @ 40-60 mph. I took the car to the local Lexus dealer and they said the tires were "cupped" due to poor alignment and they advised me to go ahead and "wear out" the tires (if I did not mind the occasional vibration), then get new tires and alignment later. Tires still have good tread, so I have not had this done. It may soon need front struts, as sometimes on rough bumps, the front suspension will make a "clunk" noise, but it still drives fine, so I have not thought it was worth repairing this at this time. It has been doing this for the past 8000 miles and not gotten any worse. So- the problems- none of which require immediate attention: front struts (alignment as well) power antenna will not retract unless you "help" it down, while it is running. If not- the motor will stop after 10 seconds and it stays up- no big deal. Also- the A/C currently does not blow cold air. Good time to convert to R134a. I am asking $3500,- which is below the KBB private party value on this car and priced very near wholesale price. I am selling because I am wanting to buy either a newer 4WD SUV (91-94 Toyota Land Cruiser, or 95-98 Chevrolet Suburban/Tahoe, or a 81-91 S-Class sedan (300SD, 500SEL, 420SEL or 560SEL and do not need this car, as well as a Mercedes). I will consider trading this car for one of the above, unless I buy one first and in that case, I will only want to sell this car, rather than trade. Car is located in northeast Tennessee.
