FS Beautiful hit 83 300D or WTB Beautiful w123 with no drivetrain
Hi,
I have a beautiful w123 300D turbo. Its an 83 with 228k. I spared no expense for maintaining it, it saw nothing but delvac 1 oil, analyzed every change, I kept very thurough records, have all reciepts, did a LOT of the work at the dealership, the rest at MB only mechanic, etc. The mechanicals are still excellent, but it got hit in July and took the brunt of the force as it was the second car in a 4 car pileup. Pics can be seen here: 83 300D smashed Here's the deal. Save for one spot on the drivers seat, the interior looks brand new. That one spot has been repaired quite well. The mechanicals are extremely robust and work really well. The last time I started it was in early September, and today, after glowing it for only the duration of two glow lights being on, it started and caught on the first cylinder and ran perfectly. So my options are this: I cant part the car, I dont have the tools, space or time. I can either sell it to someone who needs a great blue interior and great drivetrain, or I can swap it into a car that has a busted engine. So, Im looking for two things: -offers for the car as a whole (I might pull limited things, or let you come by to pull them yourself, but want to sell it as complete as possible) to a good home who will utilize as many parts as they can. Everything works great, AC blows cold, has a brand new rebuilt AC compressor, steering box less than 3 months useage, etc. -Knowledge, leads, etc. of someone that has a mint or near mint w123 with a busted drivetrain, or no drivetrain, particularly in the mid atlantic region. I would pay to have all the good stuff from my car swapped into the new one, as I dont have the time, tools or experience to do this. Since my seats were all so nice, it could have no seats, but the carpet, headliner, dash, etc. must be in great condition. It doesnt have to have an engine or transmission or diff, but I need to be able to get it to the workshop, wherever Id have it done. I hope to get some replied to this. Id love to get back into the w123 world, otherwise I need to get rid of the smashed car. Thanks for your time, JMH

I would find another and use your good parts to bring it up to your standards. You can usually find one on ebay or this forum 1984 W123 Mercedes 300D Turbo Diesel but any local import garage might have a line on one with a dead engine.
Good Luck.
