A new salesman "line"
Here's a new twist on "salesman-speak":
I was surfing eBay looking at Mercedes cars and saw an interesting 1988 560 SL in Nevada (eBay item number 4515430808). The ad appeared to be from a private seller listing his/her own vehicle (which, in my view, can be advantageous). I emailed the seller asking if it was his/her own vehicle, or whether it was a dealer. =========== My question: "Hi - is this your own personal vehicle, or are you selling it for someone else, or are you a dealer? Thanks." The answer: "Hello, I am selling it for my friend who is the owner of a dealership." =========== Right - ok.

Leave it to a car salesman to come up with that! Imagine if it were true!

I love it. When I got my first "real" job, back in the 60's, one of the older man told me " never get caught without an answer". I see that that spirit is still alive and well. Jay
