240/300d for sale & 240 , both sticks, reduced price again

i have two cars for sale. i need to sell one of them.
1. 83 240 with non turbo 300. we started with two complete cars. a 240 auto with blown rod from texas 99.99% rust free and a rusty 83 300d euro stick. we changed everything in the drive train from the 300 to the 240. while it was apart i had the motor professionally rebuilt; sleeves, decked, milled valves, bearings rings, timing chain, guides, oil pump. anything not up to spec was changed. also rebuilt: front end, drivers seat, ac, probably other things i cant remember. new bilsteins, windshield, very good michelins currently has aluminum black wheels with wheel covers i have also a set of al wheels with new michelins. the body has its original paint. there are some odd dents here and there and a few scrapes and nicks that have been touched up. it waxes up very nice. cream/tan. interior very good, carpet very good, no significant rips or tears.

i built this car because i wanted the ultimate 240d. i have driven it and my kids have driven it. it is a sweet driving little car; smooth torquey, and gets 30 mpg at 75 mph. it is very quiet on the highway.

i have pictures posted on picturetrail.
$4,495

2. 1982 240d with stick. just finished this one. rust free virginia car with newly rebuilt motor. by same shop as above. same colors. manual windows no sunroof. new front end work, bilsteins, new michelins on al wheels, or if you prefer the black wheels with wheel covers from the above car.

i am overstocked. my kids are growing up. this car i had sold to my #2 daughter when she graduated from college. she lives in muncie, 2 hrs away. she drove it for four months without ever checking the oil or changing it. it got low and she blew a rod. so i bought it back an had another 82 motor rebuilt for it. sweet little stock 240, ready for many years of service. the color combination is same as above. this car has been painted because it was faded. no rust repair was done.

ps she bought a (ugh) taurus to replace it.

$5495, less with the other wheels.

Access pics on picturetrail?

How can I see the pics on picturetrail? I signed up but can't figure out how to see your cars.

picuretrail access

rick,

go to picturetrail.com. in the upper right hand corner of the screen is aplace to type in the name. type in ctwalgamuth and then look at 240d. this is the one with the 300 engine. the 82 stock 240 is the same color combo but has a nicer body with new paint over a faded rust free virginia body. if you are interested in the 82 i can post some actual pictures of it. i am a very motivated seller so dont worry about insulting me with an offer. need to sell two of the three mercedes i have listed.

Another coincidence...

My wife was just in Lafayette last week after the death of her best friend's mom (Jane Allen) who lived there.

Nice cars! I have seen a couple of your cars in Lafayette, I think. Do you have a couple parked downtown? I am sure I have seen a couple in a lot that looks just like the one in your pics! Now that I think about it, I am SURE I have seen the 300D conversion car. Was it out with a For Sale sign that mentioned the 300D drivetrain?

My brother lives in Delphi, so I get over there once in a while. Wish I had enough to make a fair offer!!!

Good luck...

Chris

You don't want to hear my offer... really!

When/if you get REALLY desparate, email me!

...unless of course you might be interested in a partial trade involving a Vespa P125 with a sidecar... (didn't think so!)

I'll have to drive through town next time I go to see my brother and see if either car is parked there... maybe drool some more. Have a good weekend!

Here are the specs:

http://chicago.craigslist.org/mcy/68953621.html

I have more pics, of course... I listed it on craigslist and have had literally dozens of inquiries, a few offers, and a bunch of folks wanting me to hold it for them or deliver it to them. The price is firm at this point... I have SO much time in it, and a fair amount of $. I am confident I'd do well with it on Ebay, but I really don't want to mess with anything but a local sale. Ebay will attract all kinds of folks. Even craigslist attracted the Nigerian "buyers."

Anyway, even at $1350 it would leave a pretty hefty balance to pay for one of your cars. Not sure I could swing it unless I tried to unload my 190e. Worth tossing the idea around a bit though!

Nothing ticks me off more than a less-than-honest description. When I go to look at a car (or ANYTHING for sale) I would rather be pleasantly surprised than find a bunch of issues that the seller failed to mention over the phone (or internet, as it were). Just trying to "do unto others." What you see is what you get with this scooter. Let me know if your friend might be interested. She's gotta go!

Thanks again -- it's been fun messaging back and forth. If nothing else I'd love to come pay a quick visit next time I get over to Delphi!
