thanks for the pics ernie. the 240D do look just like the 300D.
i think the amount of body work it needs is a bit much for my blood - but that's me. i wish you the best of luck selling it. i sold a ford model A locally one time by putting signs up and parking it conspicuously, its surprisingly effective! that old ford needed some body work, too, but there was a guy one block away who wanted the challenge.

you never know when you will find the enthusiast for your vehicle just around the corner. must everyone loves w123s!!! plus they're great transportation that far exceeds their market value.

Thanks. I drove it all day today running all over Louisville. Its a fun car and the 4 is very smooth. If it doesn't sell I can weld some patches and flange them. It is a very nice driver and I don't care about the rust. If people notice the rust, I just look at them in their $60,000 suv getting 12-14 mpg and smile. The tax they paid on their purchase would buy two of these cars. they are easy to work on and service and there is not a whole lot to go wrong. Had a new clutch at 83k so that is not a worry. The worst that can happen is that somebody will buy it and I'll miss it for several years. Ernie in Louisville

It looks like it could be a decent buy for $1,000.

Price Reduced

I'm willing to sell the 240D for 1500.00 If I didn't have 6 cars and a truck, I'd keep it. I just don't any more space to put things. I love the car but prefer my 1992 300D. Thanks I live in Louisville KY. some pics are about 4 messages back.

I'd be easier to just find another 123 in a scrapyard and pull the doors and fenders, thery are pretty easy to replace, even at home in your driveway.

Excited!

I just received two emails from Gentlemen in the UK who will buy my car. No haggling, just gonna send me a piece of paper! I'm so excited. Their agent will do all of the work. In fact the check will be for MORE than the purchase price. Now just WHY would any one be so kind to me? America--what a country!!!

SCAM ALERT!!!!!!

DONT DO IT!!!, this is GUARANTEED TO BE A SCAM. They send you a check for more than what you're asking for and then ask you to send back the difference. The check turns out to be a fake.. and your car will be gone, too!

We know... just being sarcastic. Thanks for the warning, though...

Thanks for the Heads UP!

I was being sarcastic. I get so annoyed with these f***ing people. Don't they have a life. I've got some"lady" who has responded to a craigslist for this same car. Why don't people understand what "15 $100.00 bills" mean. I told 'em no bull****, no checks, no money orders , no bank draft--cash only! This "lady" is annoyed that I don't understand that a lady wouldn't pull this kind of stuff! Anyway, I can't move this great running and dependable car. Low miles, exterior cancer, but new tires, ect ,ect. Makes me question my ability to purchase a car. If I was looking I couldn't find a 123 stick 240D anywhere. Oh well, I guess I've lost my touch. Hey Ernie -- I wish I were a little closer and had the jack to make a solid offer... fact is, I am trying to buy my friend's 240D with similar rust, but his dad (a MB mechanic) just rebuilt the motor and tranny. Keep trying... surely someone will buy your car, if for nothing else than to use the mechanicals in a project or for a tranny swap. You could always try eBay. Manual 240Ds sell quite well there!

Chris
