1987 300TD-T For Sale

I recently was offered a deal on another car that I can't pass up - so I'm interested in selling my 1987 300TD-T wagon, I figured I'd start here first since most everyone would know and understand these cars. The car is located in Charlotte, NC.

Mileage - The car probably has about 300,000 - maybe a little less. The odometer stopped at 228K about 4 years ago. It's only been driven locally for the past 5 years, and only to/from work less than 5 miles r/t each day for the past 2 years.

Paint/exterior - The exterior is dark blue. It needs a repaint because the clearcoat has peeled off most of the horizontal surfaces. There is a dime-sized spot on the hood where the paint is gone and rust is starting. Otherwise, as far as I know, there is no other rust on the car. I don't know it's entire history, but the previous owner lived here, so it's been in the South for a while, if not forever. The wheels need repainting too. There are no dents or anything else wrong with the body work - that is actually in very good shape. The peeling clearcoat just makes it look bad in general.

Tires - Tires are in okay condition, maybe 1/2 used. The rears show some uneven wear on one side from when they were on the front and the passenger side tie-rod needed replacing (which it was).

Interior - The interior is the light-brown/tan color - whatever that is called. It is in "okay" condition. The drivers door armrest/pull is broken off and needs to be fixed/reattached - I have it in a box. The vinyl is peeling back in a few places, like around where the seatbelt feeds out at the shoulder, etc. The panel on the back of the drivers seat is loose and needs to be reattached. The seats themselves are in good shape, with the driver seat showing some wear on the door-side bolster. The rear seats are in good shape. There is a small crack in the upped-center dash - it is barely noticable at this time. The plastic cover where the rear passenger side shoulder belt attaches is loose and needs to be reattached.

Interior Mechanical - The sunroof works fine, except it needs to be adjusted to automatically stop at the proper location - right now you have to let go of the button when it is shut to avoid overshooting the closed position. The driver side front window needs something - it hits "something" in the door when lowered to about 1/2 way down. It has something to do with the door stop - because when the door is open this doesn't happen. Otherwise, all of the other winows work fine. There is one window switch missing from the center console - is just needs to be replaced - the window works fine if the switch was there. The cover of the emergency flasher switch is missing - it still works if you move the switch with your finger. The switch cover for the passenger seat fore/aft adjustment is missing - however it still works fine. There is NO a/c - I'm pretty sure there is a leak in the system somewhere, tho I haven't performed any troubleshooting. The climate control is flakey - though it is NOT stuck on defrost, defrost works fine, OFF works fine. But the other modes are hit and miss.

Engine Mechanical - This car starts immediately on the first try everytime. This is the best thing about it. I have never had a problem starting it, hot or cold. Leaks - a little leaking just started at the injector return lines, they probably need replaced. There is a small leak at the transmission. I believe it is leaking around the pan, but I'm not certain. The engine, from what I know, runs good and has great power. The transmission shifts fine. The bottom radiator mounts are probably bent in a little (due to curb hitting while parking, not an accident) - and this needs to be fixed to avoid damaging the radiator if you stop suddenly forcing the fan to hit the radiator. I just put in a brand new radiator from Rusty a few months ago because of this. To reiterate, there is no problem unless you have to stop suddenly - but it does need attention asap.

Other Mechanical - The front driver-side suspension has a squeak - when turning the steering wheel, and when going over bumps. I assume it needs a bushing of some sort. I don't know exactly what the situation is with that.

I can take photos of anything/anywhere you'd be interested in seeing. Just let me know.

This opportunity just came up, so I haven't really thought out price very much. Given the condition of the vehicle, I really have no idea what the value is. I haven't done any reseach - yet. But I wanted to get this out here because I know there may be some people here interested in such a car.

I am motivated to do something quickly - specifically this week if possible.

If you are interested, let me know. Make me an offer. If are not interested but can give me an idea of what I should be looking for in the way of price, I'd appreciate any comments.

You can email me at quahtrader@carolina.rr.com

Thanks!
