82 240d stick for sale
 

i am selling my 82 240d as a driving parts car. the body is very rusty-it's at the point of getting unsafe to drive. 23 years of salt has taken its toll-ohio winters are tough on cars. i really don't think it will make it thru another winter. this car would be ideal for someone who needs a 240 engine along with a manual transmission. the car had regular maintenance up to 3/1/01 at 228,100 miles-then they ran out of space in the maintenance booklet. the car was donated to a charity by the second owner sometime in 2002 ( not exactly sure on the date-can't find the carfax), sold by the charity to a dealer, then sold to third owner from whom i bought the car. it had 237k on it when i bought it, and i flushed brake fluid, changed oil, put redline synthetic oil in rear axle and transmission, and flushed radiator. it uses 1 quart of oil every 800-1000 miles-depending on how hard i drive it. i drive it 46 miles a day and get 32 mpg. i just turned 247k on it today. i have new radiator hoses, new fuel filters, and one oil filter to go with the car. i would feel confident in driving it cross-country. would like to get 550.00.

I have a 82 240D. Nice car. Everything works for the most part, but lost a bearing in orig motor. bought replacement and that one bonked too. So need motor for nice car...

Got any pictures of the rust? If it's fixable with a little sheet metal & bondo, it may be a good restore project.. maybe. Depends how much rust is on it, though, and where it is.
