Oh yes, I forgot to mention, the ignition switch is new but I buggered up the electrical connection on the ignition switch trying to install the new tumbler. This price is as is.

OK, finally I have gotten the pics attached. It is a nice solid car mechanically excepting the ignition plug which is a problem. For someone with patience it would not be a really difficult fix but would take three hours or so to solder in a new plug. The body and interior are shaggy but with a day's work with some rust binder and touch up paint the exterior could look a lot better. The interior with some seat covers would be very usable for someone looking for basic transportation. The engine purrs like a 617 kitten and it will ger 30 mpg all day long highway and 20 around town with the stick and the 307 diff.

If the price seems too high talk to me. I will deliver too for the right deal. I need to free up some garage space....the cash would be ok too.

I have the rubber piece for the bumper.
i have good doors--Same color, Rust free to go with this car.

$1,895 as offered above.

This is a sweet freshened motor with just enough miles to get it broken in well. It runs like a pickle seeder and gets about 30 highway and 20 town. The stick conversion includes fresh clutch parts.

I am open to ridiculously low and insulting offers.

It is just sitting there in my driveway taking up space.

This poor economy sucks wind .

Didja ever get the key switch re assembled ? .

I'd think it's time to Flea-Bay this car .

I'm selling my 1980 300CD with mucho works done , over $5,000 into it and I too just need it out of my crowded driveway as I bought another one and am happily dumping way too much $$ into it now .

more interior pics

Here are more interior pics. The leather is tattered but the foam is pretty good and the springs are ok too. If you know someone with upholstery skills the interior could be reskinned.

The body really does not look as bad as the pics show it. A couple of days filling and painting and it would look very presentable as a daily driver.

Exclamation Tough Times Indeed

Amazing isn't it ? .

Just a couple years ago this car would have flown away , now I can't get $1,500 for my 300CD Sports Coupe in VGC with cold AC , new paint and oh so much more .

Hang in there , in my long career in The Auto Trade , I have learned that the maxim : ' there's an ass for every seat ' really is true and sooner or later someone will come along & grab this ca & make a nice driver out of it .

Tom, if you only lived closer.....
My first MB was a 1978 300CD. What a treat to have one with a turbo and a stick shift.

eBay if necessary, but not necessarily eBay.

From what I've seen, the pattern seems to be that people are paying big dollars (though down from the silly season, $11k as opposed to what was that record one, $18k?) for pristine or brought-to pristine examples on da Bay... and almost nothing for worn ones.

Must be a pile o'tight-butted collectors out there....

Pattern is similar but not so extreme for turbo wagons. Non-turbo, well you can pretty much forget it unless it's 3x mint.

I feel for ya, TW, I have a dog of a '78 CD in my driveway that I got massively ripped on when I bought it at the zenith of the price nonsense. I want to do to it what you did to yours... stick and td.

Let me think this over. If I can unload my wagon, maybe....

Well they bid and win--That doesn't mean they conclude the deal....
"this ashtray is got residue"--and the instrument panel has a bulb burned out". ebay will do nothing to them for walking away. its mainly a tool for getting the most exposure to a vehicle, and then do the deal outside the joint.

Too true. I have heard that at least 60 percent of eBay vehicle transactions are never completed.

Ironic. I had a bad feeling about my CD purchase and almost walked away... but then decided to be a straight up guy and get the job done.

LOL... oh yeah, that was a great call....

I am parting this one out now.

I am going to take the radiator, engine, tranny, instrument cluster, driveshaft and rear end and put them into Pancakes who I am buying from TheDon.

Everything else is available. The seat coverings are rough but the tex door panels are pretty sweet. Lots of coupe only parts on here that might be good for someone. The mirrors are coupe only and both are manual. I am open to offers on everything. The headlight doors are pretty decent.

Once I sell off whatever folks want, I am going to clean off all the easily removed parts which go bad and take the shell to the scrap yard.

Unhappy What A Shame

As Coupes really are nice .

I hope to keep mine forever .

I keep hearing folks say they'd buy one if only , but here yours didn't sell at a reasonable price .

FWIW , not everyone on Flea-Bay flakes out ~ I recently had a buddy bid up a truck in TEXAS for me and then tell the seller I'd wanted it , I flew out paid ca$h & rattled & wheezed it across America & home again .

I've sold a few old cars there too and have always suggested coming to look before bidding (no one ever does because I'm honest in my description) and offered them to back out when they showed up to purchase , no one ever backed out and they're all very happy .
