Locations of cars for sale

I live in Dallas, TX and cannot figure out why every car I see for sale in our forum or elsewhere always seems to be in the Northeast, the Northwest or in California. Doesn't anyone in the Texas area ever sell a nice Mercedes? I am looking for a 280SE in general and just wish someone had one I could go look at, without flying or driving 1500 miles ?! Thanks for listening, Ben Carter

I could theorize and state most of the cars in TX and in the south are in good condition and nobody wants to part with them. In actuality there are quite a few decent cars in our area (as a general term). It's getting out and finding them outside of E-Bay and Craiglist. Look for those sleepers you see in someones driveway, in a small town, with 4 sale in window. Those have always been my best deals. .02 John K

All the ones I've found up here are rust buckets not worth the money people are asking. Even when I found one I thought was solid, bought it, only to find out a few months later, when the drivers seat punched through the floor, it too was a rust bucket. :(

i see tons of benz in texas, arizona and the south.

im in oregon. its a bit harder here.

sure i see some in california but from my limited understanding i hear they can have some problems due to enviromental restrictions placed on them.

Us Texans are so rich that we never let them go.

I say that kiddingly, but I ran into a lady yesterday at the Post Office who has a '92 300SD and I asked her if she wanted to sell it. She said no, it's her daily driver. But she has five MBs at the house - a 560SEL, 560SEC, and an '88 e-wagon. She never did say what the other two were. She's willing to sell those, I'm waiting to see them...

Hmm..... it used to be the opposite. When I was looking for a older (1980s) Mercedes, it seemed like they were all in Texas (or Florida). Ended up buying mine out of North Carolina, then local Mercedes started showing up all over the place.

Yesterday someone in a very nice 83' 300SD was parked beside of my 85' 380SE in a supermarket parking lot and he said he may sell his soon. Only a mile down the road, a used car lot had a like new 86 or newer 420SEL, and a 81-85 W126 as well as a 380SL convertible. :)

I agree... PLEASE post the location.
I just sold a perfect 280SE. Buyer drove it, trouble free, 400 miles home.
Sorry, had to rub it in...

tx is a big state. Is this close enough?

Though I'd rather have this one...

I presume you didn't want this kind of 280se...

Then there's this sorry example. Though it is fixable...
