wtb: 240d with 5 cyl. conversion
 

looked at 240d and 300d examples today and my "better half" has her heart set on a 240d (123 model...her first car). she does not understand that it is not made to cruise at 80+ (she has agreed to top speed of 75-80) and therefore i am hoping to find a 240d with a 5 cyl. (617.912 or 617.952) already transplanted. i see that it is not that unusual a conversion and am hoping to buy someone's old project. i would prefer a 4 or 5 spd. manual, but will consider all at the right price (i can always transplant a 4 or 5 spd. into it later). body and paint are unimportant...interior, engine, trans. must be in good condition. i hope someone has what i am looking for, because now that i know what i want...i can't wait to find it and start driving it.
