Check this out. This guy claims this is a 240D Turbo.

Q: FYI. Mercedes never made 240D turbo.
Dec-24-06
A: Sorry, but they did. Maybe this is an incredibly rare mercedes? It has a granny gear under the gas pedal which is engaged when you depress gas all the way to the floor. I have the carfax that confirms: Year/Make/Model: 1983 MERCEDES-BENZ 240D Body Style: SEDAN 4 DR Engine: 2.4L L4 TURBO DIESEL Fuel: DIESEL Driveline: REAR WHEEL DRIVE Manufactured in: GERMANY Standard Equipment: 6-digit Odometer Good Luck and Happy Bidding!

That was in his listing.

If you watch the video, it takes the car a good 3-5 seconds to shut off after he turns the key. I agree, total

this is what i wrote him

Hello. I assume that this car has an aftermarket turbo charger correct? I'm an MB technician and have been for the past 15 years. I have 3 W123 body styles. the 240D NEVER EVER EVER came with a turbo charged engine, unless you put one in aftermarket or u dumped a 3.0 turbo engine from a 300D into it. so Sorry, no they did not. Not trying to be a jerk, just stating facts. and the "granny gear". well thats the transmition kick down switch.

heh... so i told a lil lie at least i will get the point across

That is listed as the VIN number...
shouldn't it have 123 listed somewhere in it ?
My 240 has 123123....plus other stuff..
I wish Jimmy could go get pictures of the engine compartment.... funny that the only two pics of the engine compartment won't completely download for me... accident or conspiracy ?
LOL

Greg

I think yours has the old style vin number. The numbering system changed, I think about 1980 or so.

BTW, did I hear some rumor about you selling the 240D??
