Great looking, great driving CAYENNE ORANGE 300D

Hey there,

I went and I drove this car today, but I don't think I'll be able to get it...I really want a 240D stick shift instead!

Anyhow, the owner doesn't know a whole lot about the car, so I figured I'd help him out a bit and post the car on here.

It's a Cayenne Orange (rare, rare color) 1977 300D.

I drove it on the streets, on the freeway, and it drives great!

Trust me, the paint is in great shape. It REALLY shines.

No rust at all! Starts well, turns off pretty quickly, and it has a very clean, original interior. The MB-Tex is great, the odometer works, and the miles are low (170,000).

Original Becker Mexico works. All windows work. One very small crack in the dash. Did the "tea-kettle" test for blowby, and the cap barely moved at all. Shifts pretty smoothly...the 1-2 shift is a bit weird though, but I think it just needs adjusting.

When I talked to the owner, I asked him if it had service records. He told me he just had a whole stack of records that he just threw away...I told him to dig them out...he said he would. He said the previous owner (the 2nd owner, I believe) let the oil run out and thus...we know what happens next...the engine was toast. Anyhow, the 3rd owner (present owner) has the receipts for the engine replacement that was performed by an indie in Costa Mesa, and let me tell you, the car runs great! Also replaced recently were the brake pads front and rear, so the car brakes well too.

Anyhow, no, this isn't my car, but seeing as how it's a great car, I think SOMEONE on this board needs it. It deserves a loving home. I wouldn't be posting here if I wasn't really impressed with this car. Seriously, the color ALONE makes it worth a look.

Neat color. Reflection in the front fender makes it look like its dented.

Yes, that's actually the reflection of the guy taking the pics of the car. If you look closely enough, you can make out the pants/shirt, and everything. Nice shine. Car looks to be in good shape, save for nasty paint color(only my oppinion though)

behind the front tire is definitely a dent. the shadow from the molding strip even drops into it.

I agree. There is a dent on the right side front fender. It's a strange color, but I like strange colors.

The "dent" looks like a reflection of a garage door to me.

i just took a second look at that picture. I dont think thier is a dent. I think that the paint on thier has a real nice shine. That line across the doors is the curb and that "dent" apears to be another object.... just my $.02
