WTB: W126 500 or 560SEL... SECs are good too
Hey everyone. This is my first post, but it's a WTB instead of a FS post, so that should sit ok with everyone
 I am looking for a 500 or 560SEL, preferably black and in good shape. Mileage isn't a major concern for me, but I don't really want to do any body work. I am huge DIYer (resume on request  ) but I don't want something that can not be driven home. I'm totally willing to travel to buy the car, and I am looking to spend up to around $4000, so show me what is out there!Send info and pictures to wikidchikin@comcast.net Thanks! Ian

I co-wrote this back in 1999, so ignore the prices mentioned, and it's for coupes, but lots applies to the four doors too, and it is worth a look
http://www.mbcoupes.com/buyersguide/buyersguide.htm $4000 is more towards the lower end, but you might find something good. But get the best possible condition one you can, even if it costs more The most expensive Mercedes Benz is the cheapest one.

Thanks Jim, I have looked through that once or twice and found it pretty informative. $4000 may be towards the lower end, but I'm pretty confident that I can find a winner. Just gotta be patient and thorough when I check the cars out.
John, I'd like to stick to the "later" cars if possible, but I wouldn't mind knowing a bit more about the car and maybe seeing some pictures. Thanks!

I have pictures at home I can post later. I think its got about 180K on it the car was originally black with a grey interior, it was repainted the dark red and interior swapped over from a later 126 to match the exterior color. She bought it fro me only a few months ago, because she had blown the engine in here pontiac, but since she got a new engine put in that and is driving it again, she doesnt drive this one and doesn't need two cars.

She said $3500 obo.
She also wanted to mention whats wrong with it, and I quote: "1. A/C works, but not well, 2. No lights on dash, changed all the fuses(gauges work fine). it might be leaking oil... but i can't find it and i've been under that car all week." -she's in tech training school.

500 SEL or 560 SEL only?????
How married are you to the idea of a 500 SEL or 560 SEL? I'm considering selling my 420 SEL and it meets all your other criteria. (Color, price, condition, etc.)

I'm wanted in four states, but it's all good. Got me a new driver's license and a sweet new pickup. V-8, Baby, five-hundred horsepower. Oh, and four of them mudflaps with the naked ladies on them. GRRRRRRRR, MAMASITA!!! And the best part is, it's all free!!! Yeah, well, for me at least!!!! HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!!!!
