FS- 1983 Mercedes Benz 300D Turbo Diesel

Hello all,
I have put my 83 300D up for auction on eBay. It has been a great car for the past 5 years I've owned it. Unfortunately I am being forced to relocate soon and no longer have garage space for it. Like I mentioned in the auction the chrome is great, paint is good, but there are some small rust spots here and there. I had most of them patched up a couple years ago but it has slowly came back. The car has spent most of it's life out of the salt belt. The tranny shifts better than most, it's only flaw is a 2-3 flare when cold. The tires are 90-95% Michelin Harmonys. Original spare, still has original windshield (with filled chips), includes original window sticker and random receipts from date of purchase until the present. The only thing I know it needs is a tach amp, and I noticed today that when the defrost is turned on it blasts heat even when set to min temp... not sure what that is.

Jeff - nice looking car and a great listing. Too bad most sellers on ebay aren't describing their vehicles like an "owner/enthusiast" does.
What's the effect with the front grill? Matte black paint?

Didn't see the rust mentioned - did you use filler to patch?

Good luck with the listing, you should do well.

I really liked the grille color change a grey grille on a grey car isn't that noticeable, but the black really makes the grille and all the chrome stand out.

Out of the spots patched up most were just POR15, behind the one rear wheel and in front of one of the front wheels there was some filler used to smooth it out. No real holes. I sure wish one day I can figure out how to really stop rust, on the bottom inside of the door on my truck I went so far to sandblast it to pure metal, double POR15 it, then coat in anti-rust primer and it still came back!?

Sad to see that one go. That's probably the car you did lots of DIY's with and helped us w123 owners by documenting them and posting them all online. I hope both of you go to a good home :) goodluck on the sale!

*sigh* that basically meets every desire I have. I want another 300D bad. It looks very nice indeed! too bad there's no way I can afford that right now.

good luck with the sale!

Thanks for the compliments guys.

Yes, it is the one that most of those DIY pages were created on.

Do you have a buy it now?

Is the interior leather or MB-Tex? It looks like leather and you say both in the listing.

Looks like a nice, honest car to me...good luck with your auction, hope it finds a buyer who appreciates it as much as you did.

No buy it now, whatever it goes for....

MB-tex, I read that later but it was to late to revise.
