WTB 300D 2.5 Turbo
Looking for above model. Must be rust free and original paint.
Mileage not an issue as long as it has service records. Thanks! |

When the MB diesels were new, people bought them to DRIVE. There will rarely be circumstances that intervene, and the cars do not accumulate mileage, but this the exception, rather than the rule. You're searching for a 15-18 year old car, one that will be expected to have (15YO X 15K miles/yr) at least 225K miles on it. Granted they are out there, but with your criteria, you are looking for one the top 1% of the cars remaining. Given the rarity and the current popularity, you should reasonably expect to spend some time finding this car, and be prepared to pay a top dollar price once you do find it. Good luck, and be patient, and you'll eventually find just the car you want! Jim |

Learnet it long time ago, spend a bit up front but have something you can keep for a long time. There is no such thing as "cheap" Mercedes.. unless you have a horseshoe up your you know what. Took me 5 years to find the wagon we have now.. and I LOVE it. So much in fact I want a sedan for myself (wify drives the wagon). Did a bit of search in Europe, but looks like with the stron Euro it's actually cheaper to find them on this side and in better condition. Thanks! |

Yes, I agree completely. Tuck away the cash, wait patiently, and be ready to buy when the opportunity comes along! Buying on opportunity always beats buying by neccessity. Jim |
Cat's ass would be one with locking diff, heated seats and leather interior.. just to make things more difficult.. ;)

Yeah, as a buddy says; "No problem, we'll just call up the used car factory, and ask them to make you one.":) Jim |

300d
How about a 1990 300D with 245k southern car Silver/grey with grey interior. Original paint but a mercedes crate engine. Leather on drivers bottom seat starting to show wear and possibly a tear.
|
Hmm. Leather, '91 door panels / speakers / exterior panels / door handles, dash, ... add another cylinder and you'll have my '87.
There is a used car factory, it's in our garages. |

W124.128
was also looking for W124TDT for quite a few years. Looked in Europe as well and at units coming from Japan. From Europe MB quite often poorly equipped, driven on salty roads and pushed hard on the autobahns. Also salt on the roads in Northern Japan and most of the time mileage claims cannot be backed up.
In the end I bought in the Carolinas a 91 W124.128 and I think it falls into the 1% category. I know the dubious value of Carfax but against this car there were only 3 entries. BTW a little while ago there was on VCR craigslist a W124 TDT ex Jpn for $8,900.00. Also live in Mistysoggy. Cheers Quote:
