1995 E300D - 51k miles, one-owner
1995 Mercedes Benz E300D Diesel, 51k miles, one owner
My mechanic had a customer “dump” this car on him, and he asked my help to sell it. He’s really busy, so I offered to help be the buffer to potential buyers. Contact me about the car and I’ll give you my honest assessment, then if you want to go the next step you can talk to him about it. Bought new in 1995 at Star Motor Mercedes here in Houston, serviced for the first few years at that dealer, then serviced at my mechanic’s place until now. All original service records (even those of the dealer); all the major services have been done over the past thirteen years. Engine wiring harness was replaced in January 2007. Evaporator has not been replaced – no need because no issues. Exterior – exterior had “Grandma rubbings” on the bumpers. My mechanic had all the paint issues fixed – he has photos of the process so you can see they were all minor dings and scratches. No accidents. Exterior looks brand new – absolutely perfect. Car was always garaged – 100% Texas car so no rust at all. Interior – with only 51,000 miles on it, the interior is perfect. Seats are springy and feel unused, wood has no imperfections, dash is not cracked. Mechanic – drives like a new 1995 E300D. Has all the power that these cars can muster. Has had the plastic fuel lines replaced, wiring harness replaced, antenna replaced, all fluids replaced, has had all services done religiously. This car looks and drives like you’d expect a 51,000 mile car to drive. Really needs nothing. Who is your mechanic?
|
Why is the timing never quite right - this is the exact car I've been wanting for some time:(
Maybe he'll still have it in a couple months:rolleyes: Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the asking price a wee bit high or am I off here? |
nice car

51K miles is an important bullet point, though. |
Look alright. The motor is a bit dirty for 50k ;)
I think ours is just over 40k now. Its had a few little issues, but its a great car. This one seems very nice, I'm sure a very dependable car. |
It's a beautiful car - I took a week to figure out if I wanted for myself, but mentally I'm in a period of retraction, not growth. The biggest deal about this car is the 51k miles and the one-owner, which leads to an excellent condition.

Welcome back Joe. Still breaking forum rules and ruffling feathers I see.:D

"Gee, I saw one sell for 6K so they must all be worth 6K!" Even with 51K miles? I'm sad to say that I live in the same area of Texas as Joe, the DFW area, and those cars sell for more that what ole' Joe would have you believe. {the car above is over priced, though....} I think I would trade the white wagon for that car, though. Simply because that is my exact favorite color combo on W124's...... {would be a tough decision} |
Come on, Jimmy. You know better than that.:D
How would you feel if you put Squash up for sale, had a potential buyer willing to pay the asking price, then got scared away by another forum member posting how ridiculously over-priced it was? Unless comments are positive, misrepresentation is intentionally or inadvertently being committed, or you are a serious buyer, you shouldn't post in someone's ad. The price has been lowered if I’m not mistaken, correct? |
Well, I did kind of ask for opinions on the price - which is what I got - thank you. I am not real knowledgeable on the 124's which is why I asked for opinions. I know if someone wanted to finance that one they would have to have a lot of it in cash as a bank would not give you that much for it. It is exceptional looking and POS seems to know his 124's, and I suspect he would not steer someone here wrong regarding the condition. Boils down to someone being willing to pay. And yes, it appears the price did drop $1k since the original post.
Now, if my house that has been on the market for over a year would just sell and I could talk myself into driving that RWD year round I might just haggle a little :D |

My comment on it being still overpriced was concise and accurate..... |
My apologies, Jimmy. Upon reading it a second time, I understand your post better. I must have been up too late.
For some reason last night I thought you were slamming the car, when you were mostly complimentary. Chalk it up to misplaced aggression because you are Adam West and I am the sidekick in the Speedo.:D |
