WTB W124 500e

I am interested in picking up a W124 500E.Looking for a clean, well kept example. Something with around 85k would be great. Interested in one that has been kept mostly stock.

Good original ones are getting hard to find,,,, I've been looking for quite a while. Expect to pay between 20 to 30 K for a nice original example with those miles.

Hey Henry...got the bug a few weeks ago myself...hard target search discovered one in New Jersey on cars.com. just got her a few days ago...113k miles-very nice example for 16k...google E500 and it will pick up most listings...good luck! also try vast.com..very good search engine as well.

Henry,

I am unfortunately in a difficult financial position and was planning to get my 1994 E500 up for sale this week - at a deep discount. The weather here has turned butt ugly (and the forecast is for the same all week) thus keeping me from getting the wash job done and pictures taken. This is priority one. I'll also take any input regarding the best thing to do (cars.com, ebay. autotrader, etc.).

Here are some brief details in case you may be interested in waiting a few days to see what I'm offering.
  • I live in Chattanooga, TN (Car and I are originally from CA)
  • Car has always been garaged
  • Build date is Set. 1993
  • 119,900 miles
  • Have the factory 17" EVO's with 3500 miles on Bridgestone S03
  • Original 16' factory wheels available as well
  • Chip - I believe to be AMG (This car was purchased from the GM at Fletcher Jones in Newport Beach)
  • Original Chip included
  • K&N filters
  • No other mod's
  • Has OEM 6 disc changer
  • OEM phone
  • All the usual E500 accessories and they all work
  • Oil changed every 3,000 (still use Castrol GTX dino with Mahle filter)
  • In last 6 month's I have replaced the radiator, hoses, expansion tank, PS pump and all hoses, neutral safety switch and starter, tune up with all Bosch parts - rotors, caps, plugs
  • I plan on throwing in all of the original magazine's that ran reviews back in 1992/1993, factory sales brochures, the window sticker, the MB cover (used twice, in the garage), and the MB sun shield
What it needs:
  1. About 4 month's ago I began to feel the dreaded reverse slipping. It works but I must say I am nervous about when it may decide to go. Estimate out here was $3K for a robust rebuild at BlueRidge MB in Atlanta (excellent shop!!)
  2. It is time for brakes all the way around.
  3. In my opinion the paint shows it's 15 year age and the lower cladding needs to be re shot. The pictures will tell more when I can get them later this week (weather permitting).

For $3-5K this puppy will run like a beast for a very long time to come. But I have family financial obligations that are not going to let me hold on to what I thought was going to be my last car.

I will accept anything that is reasonable for a price. Things are very tough around here.

Hi Henry,

My friend Ted is probably still selling his car as of last. It's an awesome ride and the mileage is still probably in the high 85k range or less. It's completely stock and hasn't been modded or raced.
