FS or TRADE: 1979 300TD (NA-wagon)

Located in Los Angeles

Dunkelblau (dark blue) 1979 MB 300TD Wagonhttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/2.gif
Bamboo interior
271501 mi
$4000 obo

Solid as a tank, runs with no problems, and well taken care of.

I am the third owner. The first owner babied it for a good 25 years, passed on to a guy in SF for a couple years, and for the past 3 I have taken great care of this care. I have full service records from the first owner, and myself. It currently gets serviced at Mr. MB out in Tarzana, CA - hands down the best Mercedeshttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/2.gif Mechanic there is. Period. And I would be happy to have him check out the car for you.

The car has been run on biodiesel. Never WVO or Lovecraft or anything like that, just B99 or dino-diesel/bio-diesel blends. All the proper hoses and filters were changed and cleaned along the way. I get about 25 MPG with the Bio-d, and slightly better whenever I have run regular diesel.

There are some small cosmetic issues on the interior, which is inevitable for a 30 year old car. The carpeting in the rear is torn up, and the drivers seat could use some new springs. I've never been bothered by these, since I use it to haul stuff from the local garden supply, home depot, ikea, and wherever else.

Included is the original Becker Mexico cassette deck. Still works, and such a nice item to have. There is a manual sunroof, and the original alloy rims.

Still available. Will take an reasonable offers.

OK folks, this car is still available. I gave up on my last push, and now am willing to let go of it for $3500.

I would also be VERY interested in trading it for a good condition sedan (240d, 300d, 300td). :)

Dammit!!! Why do you have to be on the other side of the continent!!!

GreenMedallion 04-28-2010 06:31 PM

REDUCED - asking $2950.

Leaving town for good soon and cannot take this with me.

Perhaps some more pictures would help (interior shots?). I'll actually be in LA next week for work and am in the market for a wagon...

Does the A/C work? (I'd be driving it to TX)

GreenMedallion 04-29-2010 12:29 AM

No A/C. I had posted about fixing it in the diesel forums, and just don't have enough time to troubleshoot.

I should be able to take some pictures this weekend.

On second thought, picking up a wagon on the other side of the country (I live in GA) with the plan of driving it to 1500 miles to TX and then parking it there until I move to TX in June isn't the best of ideas.

Regardless, a few more pictures might get more people's attention.

I'm convinced. Please email me so that we can arrange a time to talk on the phone. I think that we can work something out.
