1980 300SD W116 in Arizona - 1000 OBO
My craigslist ad is here:
http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/cto/1427966853.html I have a 1980 300SD turbo for sale, currently converted to run on vegetable oil (or diesel, or mix of the two). I am asking 1000.00 OBO for it. I bought the car for 900 dollars about a year ago, and spent at least another 900 on the parts listed below. My HOA is making me get rid of one of my cars, so this is the one to go. It is not your average pristine car, but it does have potential. I want to be as honest as possible so I dont waste time showing it and you dont waste time thinking its something better than it is. So I will provide all details. It would really be best for someone who works on cars The engine and tranny is in great shape. As far as engine mechanics go, this thing will last forever. The interior does show its age, and needs some vacuum troubleshooting done on it. The good: (all of the below maintenance items have been done in the last 3000 miles) New tires New Bilstein shocks all around New Brake lines all around New Brake Booster New Brake Master Cylinder Brake Fluid Change Power steering fluid flush / filter replacement Tranny fluid flush / filter replacement New air filter Vegetable oil conversion components (can be taken off very easy if you wish) 2 new glowplugs Not rusty New differential fluid New rubber muffler holders New swaybar The bad: The car has vacuum issues, and I am horrible at troubleshooting vacuum lines. If I plug the on/off vacuum hose to the master vacuum, my car can turn on and off, no problems. If I plug the vacuum hose to the climate control, I get blower controls, heater controls, and so on, but then I have to open the hood to shut down the car. I assume there is a leak in one of the lines somewhere. Because of the above issue, things like power door locks are not working must use the key to unlock. Also because of the above, I have not done much with the climate control at all. I know it blows heat, and as far as A\C it has no refrigerant in it so I dont know if the A\C works the A\C compressor does turn fine when jumped, so I assume a recharge would get some cool air but that is 100% assumption. Windows are electric, they make noise when you try to roll them down, but the window does not come down. Paint is really not that bad, but it is from 1980. Trunk key does not work, so had to make a special tool to open the trunk Car was never tinted, and was left with the window partially open for almost a year so there is some fading, and a little dusty. Have cleaned it out since and armor all seemed to bring back a lot of the color just want to set the expectation that this is not in pristine condition. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!! |

Do you know if this has been a Phoenix (or southwest) car all it's life?

I would assume so, but can not confirm that. Like mentioned in the ad, its a good running car - but pretty much any damage is sun damage - its not rusty.
Also, FYI I lowered the price to $800.00 |
