I won't buy cars from the bottom-barrel dealers, and the top-notch dealers want too much, so I just buy from individuals. Less risk.

i think its from moister getting inside the cluster. could be wrong though so don't quote me . i've seen it on almost every w126 i've looked at. I don't tend to notice it unless someone points it out though.

These days? Probably not. But it'll do $8K, as it looks nice in the photos so people assume the timing chain does not need to be done, the A/C does not blow at 59F, the head gaskets are not leaking, and the fuel distributor works properly.

Suckas! Bwah ha ha ha!

On the other hand, I sold a 1991 420SEL with 78K for $11K recently. But if you saw it, and its service history, you'd know why.

I have a super super nice 84K mile 2003 S600, and the 420 drives smoother. It's crazy.

Would love the OP to explain what "careful" means. You can describe your experience without name calling and such, there's nothing wrong with that.

Bruce

Hey Aaron! Welcome back!

I'd also like to know the experience!

bruce, you seem to always sell the best 126's I've ever seen. Half the time they look better than they did 2 days off the showroom floor!

Thanks for the kind words. I added pics of the car to brag. These were right off trasnsporter, after wash/vacuum, no detailing (hence the fingerprints on the wood, etc)

I might be going out on a limb here when I say this, but, I don't think that's the typical parked position for the headlight wipers...

X3....i've never seen an instrument cluster look like that before. Also I hate it when people don't put things back the right way (Note the back seat switches)

Tom,

Basically, the guy called me right off the bat and offered me the car. When I asked for a PPI, he dodged it with several excuses (MB dealer won't do them anymore.....which is BS, I called them myself and asked them, and they said they still do PPIs), then said the list of things I wanted checked over was too long. So to cap it off, I sent a contact of mine to see the car privately and he gave me a less than stellar report, to say the least. So my warning here is simply caveat emptor before you fork over any hard earned money.
