Location and budget would be helpful.

Say for example you are in Socal and have 10grand to spend. I may have a wagon for you.

perfect car.

If you are looking for a 1980 with the following:
  • Near virgin 3rd row seat (with factory installed seatbelts & shoulder harness)
  • 2nd row seat with headrest
  • Original wagon first aid kit
  • Original wagon warning triangle
  • 40K on a rebuilt engine
  • Working SLS
  • Newer front shocks
Then I have the perfect car for you. I have it advertised here for $1200.

Really needs paint and probably a few other things.

PM me if interested in a rock solid yet very homely '81 wagon. It has been my daily driver for about a year and a half.
As stated above, a little more about your preferences for price and condition would be helpful. As far as location, car would make it anywhere.
You certainly have a wide range of possibilities.....

FYI, car doesn't have near as much paint as the pic above makes it look like.

Jimmy -- I wish Chameleon had half the paint (finish) that your wagon has and (only) twice the dirt. I really ought to at least spray off the engine ONCE.

Sorry i should have been more specific!
I am in delaware (dont laugh)
looking for something decent not perfect with little rust.
price range depends on car but 6000-7500.
I would prefer the car to have less than 200K
Cheers!

Very realistic expectations. You should have no problem finding what your looking for in that price range, it just may require a trip down South. If anything of interest pops up far away from you, post it in the Diesel discussion section. Maybe a forum member in the area can take a look and give his unbiased opinion.

You could also buy Jimmy's wagon, which is excellent mechanically, get a paint job, and have an incredible wagon within your budget, or even a bit below.

I don't think daw's could be brought back, but the rebuilt motor is arguably worth his asking price.

Oh, come on, Tyler; the 2nd row seat with headrests, the near virgin 3rd row seat, working SLS, and a replaced (and then rebuilt) engine with 40K miles on it makes it worth bringing back. It even comes with a rare wagon first aid kit and even more rare wagon warning triangle. Even has the correct rear bumper with intact lights in the bumper.

I could probably part it out and make twice what I'm asking.

I can come up with a turbo, exhaust manifold, turbo drain, and oil pan, if you want to add the turbo. Engine was rebuilt 40K miles ago and yes, I have the documentation on it.

Jimmy's wagon, I'm sure, is very much more driveable than Chameleon is --- this lizard needs a LOT of TLC from the next owner.

I'm sorry, daw. I suppose someone desiring a "rat rod" would be all over it.

You know it will probably sell within a week of putting it on Craigslist. Have you listed yet? "body man's dream"

I sold Jimmy the front seats out of a beater wagon I had. I haven't seen a nicer pair yet, and I've seen alot of W123 seats.

Tyler.

Are those blue seats better than that Palomino set I have in the 1984 300D parts car? You are right. I need to list Chameleon on Craigslist.

*daw scribbles a note on his forehead* Now, I'll remember.
