Interesting, those on Benzworld think that the car was overpriced. The thoughts were that perhaps $9000 would be more in line.

What do you folks think?

In this economy, I think the seller lucked out and found a niche buyer and got a reasonable amount of money for it. I think he would have gotten alot more for it 4 or 5 years ago, but times are tough now.
If it was'nt schilled on fleabay remains to be seen. We might see it listed again in the not too distant future. You know I'm just sayin'..... Jim

Interesting.

I wonder how this proves there has been no refinishing. I see the readings are the same all over the car. Is it not possible the care was totally refinished? Not that I think it was - I see no other visible indication of painting.

To get a repaint done at factory thickness where all panels are within .5-2 mils of each other is not easy and very uncommon. It would take someone attempting to pull off a forgery and they'd have to be very good at it, going thin on prep, primer, correcting along the way, etc. This is thousandths of an inch stuff, so it's very hard to pull off. Would be equivalent of forging a good piece of art...only worth doing if the money is there.

With this car, it would cost far more to do than the bump in value the car gets by claiming original paint.
