1991 560 SEC

My 1991 560 SEC is for sale;

This National Show Winning 560 SEC is in original showroom condition, has never been restored. The car sold new in July 1992 and I am the second owner. This car is close to the last made of 2,138 in 1991. Complete records, including a log book during my ownership. The car has competed in 7 Judged shows and has never been beaten. Judges comments include, "When we judged your car, it raised the bar for the entire field" Its last show was The Weston Rotary Car Show in September ’09, where it won Best Original Car.
This car was made famous in the Cult Classic, “Roadhouse” starring Patrick Swayze.
The list of maintenance since 2007 which covers 6,000 miles; Timing chain, rails, tensioner, camshaft gears, oil tubes, this has to be done every 100,000 miles and can cost up to $3,000, its been done so you won’t have to. Power steering filter and hose, new Michelin's, brake fluid, front and rear brakes and rotors, caster and sway bar bushings, 4 wheel alignment, voltage regulator and battery, Transmission fluid and filter. All items are OEM Mercedes- Benz and Mobil 1. Prior years included; rear accumulators, driveshaft, tie rod ends, idler arm, S.S. rear exhaust, rear wheel bearings, belts and hoses, fuel injectors and front shocks. This car has been serviced to a higher level than Mercedes-Benz recommends.
Forget the transporter, bring a plate and drive it home, Anywhere!
Just changed the oil and filter with Mobil 1 and flushed and replaced the brake fluid on March 19, 2010.
This car needs nothing! No rust now or ever. Kept in a Dehumidified Garage. Never driven in winter, seldom in rain. In the next 100,000 miles all you have to do is change oil, brakes and tires in 50,000 miles, depending on how you drive. Service manuals and an un-built model are included.
The paint and interior are in showroom condition. I can’t list everything that has been done to this car, feel free to call me at 508-943-5747

It's always helpful if you mention things like asking price, car's location, miles on the car and what color it is in the listing...photos would be nice too.

This car is perfect, I hate to sell it but I need the room. Bought a 1989 560 SL with 20,000 miles. This car drives and looks new, everything has been done to it. It needs nothing.

You really need to drive the car, if someone wants to buy it, come with a Bank check and plate, and if its not as I have described it, I'll pay for your flight home.

Markus, were you on MBCoupes?

More pictures. When they did the chain, rails, oil tubes ect, there was not any sludge or oil residue in the engine, it looked brand new. It does not use any oil or leak any.

For general perception, that's a ton of money for a 100K mile car.

Not that it's not worth it, it's just that there is maybe 1 potential buyer out of 1000 that understands the price of these cars is not based on mileage, or 'blue book' value.

It's all about condition and maintenance, and in that sense it would be hard to find a nicer one than yours I think (well, maybe one or two of mine, but that engine bay looks like a nice place to eat lunch it's so clean).

GLWS!

This is just the wrong place to sell a nice car like that, but you never know who is surfing here I guess.

I see it's posted on MBCA website and some other places too. You probably should put it into Hemmings and the next issue of the Star. Might also try ebay - I know normally ebay is a waste of time for sellers but they offer free classified ads and every eyeball that hits it is one more potential buyer. In my case I got a fair price for my C43 on ebay and the buyer was local too so for me it worked out.

Still, I would say that if your asking price is firm you might be looking at a protracted marketing period to find that one in a million buyer, so be patient.

My guess is this ad campaign is really to satisfy the SWMBO.

The price has been reduced, if I recall correctly.

It is a car which needs the right buyer, and your right you never know who is looking. It will be in the next issue of The Star. I know how to thank someone who sends me a buyer.

Tyler, opinions are like A.....s, everyone has one, some have two. You seem to put your two cents in on everything. Someone like you taints every post you reply to.

Yes, I'm on MBcoupes as well, even though its pretty quiet these days. Try ebay, you never know. There was a 91 recently (less miles though) that was hovering around $20K!

Pictures of the engine while the timing chain/rails replaced, notice the old rails are still in the engine. This is how clean it was when it was first opened. Thank you Mobil 1!!!

Uncalled for, and only hurts you as you never know who might recommend a sale. Plus I caught the smiley face in the post, so I think he was kidding anyway.

If you're selling a car, thicken your skin! You would not BELIEVE the questions and comments I get, especially on ebay. The latest was someone that had never driven the type of car I was selling, so they wanted to know if I could bring it over to them for a test drive to help them decide if they liked it........325 miles each way. Ugh.

I don't know what the B & O means......?

On price? It may still be a little high - however, I personally would be looking in the Los Angeles Orange County California area for a low-mileage one. So that would make me pass on this one.

It looks nice though.

Every time I and others post something, Tyler offers his opinion as if he's an expert, that's why I made the comment.

You may beable to find one with lower miles, but you will have to do the Timing Chain and rails before you reach a 100,000 miles and that costs $3000.00 to do. something that should be factored in. Also I'll put the service records and prevenative maintenance up against any car. I have over maintained this car and that's why its so good. Stabil, 45lbs in the tires and a battery tender when stored every winter. At spring start up and when it hasen't run for more than 2 weeks and when you change oil, I disconect the ignition and crank it until it has oil pressure before starting to reduce stress on the chain, something everyone should do with these cars especialy with 90,000 or more miles with old rails, tensioner and chain. The chain tensioner leaks down over time and you'll whip and shock the chain if you don't do this, best to do it all the time even with new parts.
