Feeler '82 300D

I really like this car but my wife and daughter both hate it.

What's a man to do?

Light Ivory that is in good condition, rear deck lid and passenger rear quarter is oxidized.
MBTex
Car is 99% rust free and very straight but has a few nicks and dings
Starts and shuts off great
New glow plugs
A/C isn't working..heat works
Needs Master Cylinder replaced which I have and will replace if I have the car long enough.(no fluid in the booster)
Dash has a few cracks but for the most part is good.
Becker works
Rear driver window isn't working
Sunroof works
Engine is extremely strong
New tires

99% rust free? Is there such a thing? How do you figure?

I suspect my w123 to be 99% rust free.

Is this your car or another? If it's yours and you want to keep it, just go with the "opporunity cost" argument. i.e. a similar repacement car would cost $300+ per month if financed, or $XXXX to replace, or $YYYYY to restore, etc. While your 99% rust free car costs nothing in fixed costs, yet only a few hundred bucks every few months. Cheap car, good transpo, classic lines, 1% rust...You get the idea.

Try that, or just be a man.

Keep it. The money you'll get from the sale won't buy you anything better.

Sell the wife and daughter.

Talking

Unless you replace it with a Lexus or Beamer, your wife and daughter aren't going to like your replacement either. I have a 82 300D and that's half the reason I keep it in the driveway cause my wife hates it and my kids won't drive it....and I like it that way!!!

The A/C probably needs a compressor. That's my next project. I plan on replacing the compressor, drier, and O-rings. Flushing the system too.

$3900 obo

Well, without working AC and nearly 300K miles your price will not fly here.
I guess with a "feeler" type of thread then no harm, no foul. But if you ever truly are serious about selling it then you are going to have to get realistic.
Truly I'm not trying to be argumentative, just giving my over-priced and un-invited 2 cents worth......

Feels like you don't want to sell it.

Just for comparison: I think I underpriced the car a bit though, just because of the provenance.

1985 300D: Ol' Turbo 198k, Wichita, Ks $3995.00
