W126 prices are depressing
Your car might not sell for more than $1,500. I know how this sounds; but it is the sound of reality. The pics make the car look pretty good, and the mileage is definitely low, but then again, these particular VDO odometers are renowned for failing and therefore the mileage on the face of it is always a bit suspect; especially after 24 years; like who does just over 3,000 miles a year... for 24 long years? Sorry.

I feel that I must defend my self (actually my car) in regard to Simon's post. The mileage is accurate. I have had 3 cars plus a company car for two drivers for years. I purchased this car new and the odometer has never been broken or replaced. My 1982 300SD has only 137K miles and the other car (a 2002 Audi) has only 49K on it. Also, it is in good condition as it looks in the pictures.:)

i hope you get a decent price... i don't know why you priced it through the roof in the first place.... that's a turnoff.
i think you should be able to get between 5500-6k. good luck... |

Also, there are ways to get a good idea of the actual mileage from the rest of the car, especially the interior. |
I'm not doubting the low mileage of the vehicle. I just think the asking price is too high. 4-5.5K tops for a excellent condition 126 is on par.
Its my experience that should you buy a 126 for less than this value, expect to put the difference into is repairing and getting it up to snuff. The problem you run into with low mileage cars is the fact that the rubber pieces in the suspension tend to decay/go bad due to sitting. High mileage cars tend to need paint/body/engine/suspension work. Occasionally you'll see one with a nice interior. |
Put it on Ebay, you will get $5k-$7k maybe a bit more for it.
W126 prices are depressing lately, good time to buy not so much to sell. Although IMHO that will change eventually. Nice car BTW, wish I was in the market. |
SOLD
I sold & delivered it today.
Thanks to everyone who replied. Sales price was $7K. I do have a question though. Is there a way to delete this post? I don't see any way to delete it. |
I dig the little persian carpets up front...

Glad you got that much. Prices are really scattered on these fine cars. We will see a settling of true values for good cars. I've got a great 560 that I felt was worth what I paid but have gone "Ugh" at the present flux that has been occurring. Fear is I could have grabbed a better example for a few hundred less. There are a lot of real dogs out there and real cars worth the money and are getting thin. The collector/over funded market has not been aware of our corner of the world and it is in our best interest to find and set aside the best values for the long wait for appreciation that will probably be after our deaths. Ah well, at least I will be able to say "I told you so" from the beyond. I still have a ball cruising up the road and laying in wait for a teenie that wants to challenge me for a slot in the merge lane. Thank you for kick-down to first gear, WOOF.
