needs work is an understatement on that one. wonder if it's Diesel

t walgamuth 08-12-2010 07:04 AM

I love the looks of that one! It would be a ton of work though!

winmutt 08-12-2010 08:44 AM

That is a pretty cool van, should be a 309d. The viewing windows are kickbutt. Would make for a really nice weekend rv.

t walgamuth 08-12-2010 08:49 AM

a 617 would drop right in.....

That would look so cool with my autocross car behind it! I might have to retire the Miata and go back to my 280e!;)

Depends on how bad that rust is. Given where it is at, I am guessing its falling apart.

I bet you could shoe horn a 617.95x in there and have quite a decent vehicle. They were available with 616 and 617 engines.

If anyone gets this, busfreaks.de is a great resource as well as EuroTruck LLC and Jim Ince (google either).

vehicle is 20 minutes from me if anyone wants me to look at it. i contacted the poster to see if i can some more info

panZZer 08-12-2010 04:09 PM

I believe its a 206d "Hanomag"

t walgamuth 08-16-2010 07:57 AM

I think if it were a hanomag it would have a hanomag logo on it. I believe it is a mercedes.

Think I could cram a cummins 5.9 in that little dear, guys?

I really love the lines on that....especially the panoramic roof windows!

Hogweed 08-16-2010 08:37 AM

no word back from seller, but that could be due to my email address getting spammed....i just contacted him using another email, so we'll see

History on Bus
.
Brought over from Germany by the Lacker Dink Beer Company (could not find
anything on the company) for a ski Lodge in New York. The Lodge would
pick people up at the bottom of the hill and bring them up in the bus.
They had a keg of beer situated in the middle of the floor with seats on
either side. The bus was then sold to someone (name unknown) who
supposedly was in the Guinness Book of work records for having driven a
Mercedes over a million miles? It was then sold to Mr. Wise who last
drove the bus in 1987. It has been sitting idle since that time.

• There is rust on the body as you can see from the pictures
• He does not know where the key is
• There are no broken windows or glass
• The roof is partially metal and the center is canvas
• The tires are no good
• The engine is still in the vehicle
• Vehicle has ~49,000 original miles
• Gas

winmutt 08-17-2010 09:34 PM

Wow a canvas roof? That sure is a site seeer. Somone should stick a keg in it and drive around NYC giving drunk tours!
